Was TTC for 1 year+ and conceived on day 6(!!!!) of a very regular cycle with very regular ovulation pain and CM at day 12. The human body is a funny thing - we had been focussing so hard on doing things at the right time we were very surprised. So it is worth having sex just for fun some months.....

Good luck to all those TTC

x

What a brilliant story -and very well-placed (see various threads where we all obsess about OV times ad nauseum).

Will try and learn from this...

Oh - congratulations! Grin

Beccy1974 · 02/06/2006 17:02

it is v encouraging and pretty much almost makes all the books redundant. still, sure we'll all keep reading them.

congratulations :-)

klou · 04/06/2006 20:44

congrats bloomingnora - and thank you for sharing --- don't mean to be noisey , BUT - he he - how do you know it was day 6? i mean was it the one that month? just asking as my husband works away loads which cuts down the chances and your post gave us hope!

suzi2 · 04/06/2006 21:30

That's encouraging. I conceived DS about 2-3 days after the little egg sign appeared on my persona, so I thought we had missed the boat!

But this time round, I'm not sure if I've ovulated at all this month or if I did it was later than expected. Thought I had missed the boat again but hey, you never know!

Angsthase · 05/06/2006 10:16

Thanks for that story Blooming and congratulations. Smile

A lesson to all us TTC's who get too anal about the whole thing to lighten up and remember we just enjoyed sex for the sake of it once Wink and maybe we'll get lucky when we least expect it!!

Tinasan · 05/06/2006 10:21

Yup I conceived on day 10 of a 29 day cycle (I know because my dh was away on business after this)...I really think dtd every couple of days throughout the month takes a lot of the stress out of ttc

flowertot · 05/06/2006 13:32

The bit I don't understand is those that say they conceived really late in the cycle. Surely it has to be too later after you have ovulated? I can understand some super sperm hanging around for days before but once the egg has been released and is on its way surely there is no chance?

rubles · 05/06/2006 13:49

Flowertot, I suppose that they either assumed (wrongly) that they ovulated earlier at around 14 days when in actual fact they ovulated a week or so after that OR they did usually ovulate earlier in their normal cycles but then they had a weirdy month when the ovulation was delayed by a week or so which took them by surprise.

bloomingnora · 05/06/2006 20:34

Klou - I knew it was day 6 because we decided that we shouldn't take any more risks that month as I had given up work (with the intention of getting another job). We actually had a bit of a row about it....The dating scan I had then confirmed it to the day. It was the first month since having DD1 that I haven't had severe ovulation pain as well. Have no money whatsoever but am very happy!

Ah that's lovely! And so helpful to us when you know to the day. Keeps us all hoping, and better start a bit earlier in the cycle this time then! God whatever happened to making love for loves sake Wink

pinkranger · 20/06/2006 15:18

bump for all those still TTC (including me!)

thirtysomething · 26/06/2006 20:13

I conceived ds1 between day 22 and 28 of cycle - no idea how that is possible but it happened! Plus was first month for months we stopped worrying about temps and charts as we were on holiday!

LadyTophamHatt · 26/06/2006 20:28

This pregnancy was concieved on day 8 or 9 of my 28 day cycle. It was about 2 days after the end of my period.

There were no signs of ovulation (that I usually get at around day 12) when we concieved.

Sexonlegs · 26/06/2006 20:40

God, it is a mystery. So, lets just bd every day - bugger ov dates!!!!

decafgirl · 26/06/2006 20:44

That's just the sort of story I needed to hear tonight - thanks!

PinkCustard · 04/11/2010 15:38

Just stumbled upon this old thread and think it's very helpful. Had already decided to go for the every other day approach this month and this has spurred me on further x

GetDownYouWillFall · 04/11/2010 15:47

wow the OP's baby must be nearly 4 by now! Amazing.

FWIW, I conceived DD on cycle day 32 of a 46 day cycle. I was just about giving up that I would ever ov that cycle, but it happened.

I agree that it's good to just relax about it (so hard though.)

Lychees · 04/11/2010 17:51

Pink, we're going for it every other day from end of AF until start of next AF. When I conceived DS, we were newly-weds, were a bit younger [and fitter] so our normal sex life meant that we were bd'ing every other or every two days and I wonder whether that's where we've been going wrong for the past 14 months.
