Clomid Question

I am wondering whether anyone of you could give me a bit more info on Clomid? I am not on Clomid (yet) and have another cd21 test to do next month, but I thought I better get some info in case I will get it prescribed.
My last cd21 test came back as 5 which is obviously very low so the doctor said she wanted to do another one and if that comes back negative as well she will refer me to the fc. I assume they will do test before giving me anything? My next cd21 will also include tests for rubella and german measles already - she said that would get checked anyway.
Will they do an ultrasound? And how many cycles of Clomid would I get? Do you start with 3 and then they see how it goes? Do they do cd21 tests every cycle? What about a cd3 test? I was told yesterday they wouldn't do a cd3 before I start with Clomid.
Apologies for all these (possibly stupid) questions, but I am new to all these possible fertility issues. Thanks for info Smile x

No question is daft on here.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost.

Clomid is usually prescribed by the fertility cons (not the GP) when there are definitive problems with ovulation. It is often the first line of treatment for PCOS patients but not all such patients are actually suitable to take clomid.

A day 2 test measures LH and FSH; these are two very important hormones that kickstart the ovulation process. Why won't they do a day 3 test before you start clomid?. They ought to!. If LH and FSH are out of sync this could be why your day 21 test for progesterone showed no ovulation.

Clomid is given for a maximum of six months after which time other treatments should be tried. They should do both blood tests and ultrasounds to ensure that an egg is leaving the ovary. No monitoring is unacceptable as you then have no way of knowing whether clomid is doing its job or not.

Thanks for replying Attila..I know I need a proper diagnosis. I have a few health conditions that might make ovulating a bit of an issue - it's my hypothyroidism which might be the problem I guess. My TSH is a bit too high at the moment and my dose has just been upped so that might help. I am not that young anymore eitherWink.
I am not sure why my GP said they would do the cd3 test only when I've started clomid - I will query that next time again!
I read somewhere that there is a risk of multiple pregnancy. Is that true!? Thinking about it it might be actually.
I assume they'd do an ultrasound at the fertility clinic before everything starts!? And maybe to make sure it's not PCOS (what I don't think I have to be honest)..
