Hi I posted this somewhere else but after looking round here looks like the best place for it.
In September I had an abnormal smear and though now I am clear, due to my family history my consultant told me and my husband if we wanted children to have them ASAP. Even though in an ideal world we would have waited a couple more years. We both want to try for a child of our own, so on Wednesday I am coming off the pill. I've been on the contraceptive pill for 10 years and my GP says it could take sometime for me to conceive.
I worry that I've already left it too long due to none of my family being able to have children past 25 (I'm 27)
Has anyone else been in this situation where a medical professional has guided the decision of when to try and conceive?
Thanks

Hi oracle, not been in your situation, but I just wanted to mention that after coming off the pill, you are often briefly very fertile, so it's worth making the most of. Could you start charting your cycles if possible, so that you can see if and when you are ovulating? I found this so helpful and it takes a lot of the worry away when you can see a temperature shift (along with other signs) showing that you've ovulated. 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' is a good book about it all, or you can use free online charting sites like Fertility Friend etc. Hope it all goes well for you.
