Hey there everyone!
Had a laparascopy last summer. Went well. Was then put on the BCP for a few months. After a few scans and blood tests, turned out i needed a hormone boost! My uterus is good and ovaries seem fine now. (My womb was tilted when they did the Lap, my amazing ob/gym put it back in place).
Now, he has put me on clomid. Am about to start it as soon as AF shows, hopefully today.
Any clomid success stories or similar ones?
Any tips, ideas suggestions?
All appreciated....TTFN x

putting a womb back in place - you make it sound like straightening a picture frame on the wall!
I haven't used clomid but I know lots of other women here have and I'm sure the'll share their success stories. Come over to the ttc thread....some women over there are using clomid now I think.
Good luck, I hope it works quickly for you!

ChaCha, Hi. Welcome to the Clomid Club.
I wasnt ovulating and was prescribed Clomid, 50 mg a day. It worked like a dream, a few side effects but nothing I couldnt handle. I got pg second month on Clomid but unfortunately miscarried at the end of the first trimester. Now I am back on Clomid (this is my first month on Clomid since my miscarriage) and I am now on day 13 of my cycle and eagerly awaiting signs of ov. Clomid does make me very moody pre-ovulation, it's like very bad PMT. Also I am bloated and crave chocolate (I dont suppose that's much to do with the Clomid though, just me!)
Apparently (this is according to my nutritional medicine book) Clomid is more likely to be effective if taken with Vit C). Also, Clomid can make cervical mucus thicker and therefore less fertile, another book I read recommends taking an expectorant cough medicine which will thin the cervical mucus aswell as the mucus in your lungs. I'll check the name of the cough medicine that is recommended, I just bought some today but have forgotten the name.
Good to have you here

Hey there Bunny,
Thank you for those links.
Have just spent a good 20 minutes reading all the posts on clomid. I expect my prescription in the morning, i do not know if i am going to be monitored or not. Am hoping dear doctor has put a note in to tell me what is what.
Am I supposed to be charting?! I am so lost. I am dreading any side effects, you should have seen me on the pill. Yuk!
Do i have to buy ovulation kits etc..am hoping doc will ask me to go in for scan or the like (should i ask him - we are private health care)
Thanks for all your support. I need it x

Hi again, I never had scans but I think they are recommendedI, 'd probably request one if it is covered by insurance. I think scans are more important if you are taking higher doses of Clomid, I have a friend who released 22 eggs on one clomid cycle! She was admitted to hospital with ovarian hyper-stimulation. I used the OPKs to establish my ovulation, this time I am temping too. You should definately request a day 21 blood test, this will measure the progesterone in your blood and it is a good indicator of whether or not the clomid is working.

Another former Clomid patient here. Certainly if you have private healthcare you should be monitored at some point - ideally a couple of scans and blood tests. Really the point of the monitoring is just to check if and when you are ovulating. So if nothing is arranged in month one then I would use OPKs anyway (charting may also help confirm, though mainly for your benefit - I've not yet found a doctor to be interested in this with me!). You will have to buy the OPKs and they're not that cheap!
Clomid does have a very favourable success rate though, especially if you've already had some things checked out. So hopefully you'll be pg before having to worry about seeing the doctors too often. Hopefully you will get some sort of protocol sheet with your prescription.
Good luck!

Well, i have to admit. Out of all the forums i've ever been on this has certainly proven to be the most supportive. I cant thank you enough for all your support, it certainly takes the pressure of DH LOL
Will be filling you in with all my anxieties as soon as i pounce on the postman who will hopefully have my prescription. Poor postie!

Ooops just read bunny2's last post and realised mine was a bit blaise about the risks - 22 eggs!!! Good grief - I only got that with IVF. Mind you I didn't respond to Clomid at all...
Your protocol shhet should give you information on what to look for in the case of OHSS. Keep drinking plenty during treatment. Glad you've been bouyed a bit!

Hi there
Hope I'm not too late with my response Cha Cha and that this helps.
Two years of trying to get pg and finally given a laparoscopy - told I had endo and PCOS. One month later and after first dose of clomid I was pg!! Now have a beautiful three month old baby daughter - it can and does work for some - good luck!!!

HI cha cha,I had a dd 12 years ago as a result of clomid.I have pcos and it took a few months of quite a high dose for me to get pregnant.I had to hvae a day 21 test each month until the dose was right.
Once the dose was right it only took two months for us to get pregnant.Don't remember that many side effects except moodiness, but that was prb just me!.
Clomid didn't work for me when I was trying for a second child, don't know why .We gave up on fertility treatment as we found it all to stressful and were grateful for our dd.However eleven years later I conceived naturally and now have an 18 month ds!
I started to ovulate naturally after going on the atkins diet.I don't know if it was a fluke or not but that's how my son came about!Isn't life funny, wish I'd done the diet years ago!
I wish you all the luck in the world.i bet you'll be posting on the pregnancy threads soon!
