That it would be silly to start TTC right now; Christening and Wedding coming up next month, several half marathons booked already and Honeymoon (finally!) at the end of next month. I'm getting so broody!

You know it might not actually happen immediately, so I'd go for it!

It might not happen straight away & if you were lucky & it did not sure why it's a huge issue for any of your plans other than maybe the half marathons.

Honeymoon is safari in South Africa

I wouldn't TTC before the honeymoon if it's a safari- presumably you have to have various jabs etc? Some you can't have done when pg and none of them have been tested specifically on women TTC so they can't guarantee they're safe (though probably they are). The other things, well christenings and weddings won't be ruined by being pg and you can't put your life on hold re the half marathons- I'd keep on entering them even while TTC if you enjoy them. Many women run throughout pg. If you find you can't train or just don't fancy it you won't have wasted too much money.

Good luck with it!!

The only thing that would give me pause in the SA trip. If you will need jabs and anti-malarials, I would wait, as these aren't ideal/completely contra-indicated when ttc. I don't see anything else as a reason to delay.

meditrina · 07/06/2013 15:18

If you need anti-malarials for your honeymoon destination, I'd wait until that's done with (including the time you need to take them post-visit). Malaria in PG is even more serious than when not, and very hostile to the foetus.

englishteacher78 · 07/06/2013 15:27

No anti-malarials. Just Hepatitis and Tetanus.

You should check if those are safe to have in pregnancy or ttc. If I were you I'd wait until after the safari because it sounds like an amazing once in a lifetime time trip and you won't enjoy it half as much if you're pregnant. You'll not be able to drink, will be worrying about what you can eat, might be feeling sick and tired etc. a few more months wont make much difference.

Get the jabs in now - coverage lasts several years for those two - then that ceases to be a factor.

But I'd wait until after (on possibly on?) the honeymoon, just in case you are unlucky enough to get awful morning sickness.
