Hi, I have tested very early about 9 days after the 'act' and I had a very very faint line that I could only see if I really waived it around in certain lights but it was definitly there straight away.. any thoughts ? could it be a positive this early, I am about 9 days from af ??

You are probably right wannabe, but my cycle is normally only about 26 days and I have read on here that ovulation normally takes place 14 days counting back from the end of cycle , that would make it day 12, so theoretically it could be only 3 days between doing it and ovulation. Mind you I did notice the signs of ovulation around day 13/14 as you mentioned. Anyways, its probably best just to wait till AF comes as that is only 6 days away and I can be in blissful ignorance thinking I am pregnant until then !!

Hi, good luck!
I'm amazed at your patience..lol

I used sainsburys tests last year and got one neg. , two pos. with my DS, all within half an hour..hehe

A week or so ago I bought two more, and they seemed to show a very faint line. d.p reckoned it was just the little 'inlet' in the material that the dye flows into to produce a line, rather than an actual line iyswim, as i had to hold it up to the window to see it..

breakfastfairy · 24/05/2006 16:56

oh no, that really sounds like Im in for disappointment then, funny thing is Im starting to feel pregnant now, low crampy pains and very tired, but of course that could just be stress and IBS ! I havent bought another one, its not patience its because it might well be negative and I dont want to find that out yet.. nutty or what ?!?! So the recent ones you got which had a faint line and your husband thinks they are just dye/inlet were you testing ? were you negative ?

good luck bff ! let us know -- i got pg with sperm that had been there for a week so it does happen

babyonboard · 24/05/2006 17:04

Oh no..don't feel negative! I didn't mean it as a negative post..just my experience..
after those two tests last week i'm also waiting to retest..my ds is 6 months but I havent had a period for a very long time. I'm putting it down to normal bodily changes at the moment, but still suspect those test were positive and d.p just talked me out of believing it. (for us it would be amazing, but very scary as we couldn't hold of the house move, change of career etc)

why not take a test again, just so it's not on your mind all the time?
fingers and toes crossed for you

PEOPLE DON'T OVULATE ON DAY 14 OF THEIR CYCLE

THAT'S BOLLOCKS

and yes I know I'm shouting .. it makes me so mad to see it popping up time and time again

its rubbish .. a statistical average that's all ..

Twiglett · 24/05/2006 17:07

PEOPLE ALSO DON'T OVULATE 14 DAYS BEFORE START OF NEXT CYCLE

AGAIN ITS BOLLOCKS Angry

babyonboard · 24/05/2006 17:10

twigglet..confused!?

Twiglett · 24/05/2006 17:19

the oft quoted 'you ovulate 14 days before your period starts' is a statistical average

by saying that the average cycle is 28 days long people then take this statistical average and say you ovulate day 14 (on or around)

the thing is to make an average you get people who ovulate a lot earlier and people who ovulate a lot later in their cycles

so someone might be ovulating on day 6 and someone else on day 20 .. that would make the average day of ovulation day 13 .. but having sex the week around day 13 wouldn't allow either of those people to conceive

the only way to know for sure is to chart or use OPKs

I'm sorry it riles me because I was told this by GP .. only to find out we weren't conceiving cos I was ovulating late (day 23) ... as long as you have a 10 days after ovulation to period starting you have a chance of conceiving .. I had an 8 day period so needed to take clomid .. if I had listened to the crap the GP had spouted I would never have had DD

breakfastfairy · 24/05/2006 17:19

Twiglet.. calm down mate, I just thought from what I had read on this subject on this board it had been said many times that you ovulate generally 14 days from the end of your cycle however long that may be. By all means put me right if its rubbish... I had read it quite a bit on here tho x

OP posts:
Twiglett · 24/05/2006 17:20

to chart you need to track cervical fluid, body basal temp and position of cervix .. merely noticing egg-white fluid is not a sign of ovulation

HTH

Twiglett · 24/05/2006 17:21

I know .. every time I see it on here I correct it .. but it still keeps popping up .. there are others who correct it too .. and still it keeps popping up

and I've heard doctors saying it too

its rubbish, rubbish I tell ya

breakfastfairy · 24/05/2006 17:24

I have read all the posts on EWCM and this seems to indicate ovulation .. is this rubbish too ??

OP posts:
babyonboard · 24/05/2006 17:24

okay..14 day as a rule is 'rubbish'..but we need these guidelines/averages to work with ..

breakfastfairy · 24/05/2006 17:24

deep breath....

babyonboard · 24/05/2006 17:34

b.fairy are you okay?
don't know how my post came across but i was just saying i've always worked with the suggested dates of ovualtion and you need them really..fair enough we all work on very different cycles, but this is a simple indicator..

don't know why this thread turned into such a debate..i still hope you get the bfp..
can you still resist testing!?

breakfastfairy · 24/05/2006 17:38

Hi babyonboard, yes Im fine, I might pop out and get a test tonight and do in the morning.. af is due sat so it might show something more now:)

babyonboard · 24/05/2006 17:47

great stuff!
you should definitly buy an early predictor one (clueblear) .it's bound to give a clearer result

babyonboard · 24/05/2006 17:48

oops...meant clearblue...lol

good luck with your test ...

FYI ewcm is an indicator but not in isolation .. as it is possible to get ewcm more than once a cycle .. hence the use of BBT and cervical position

if you want to know more then check out www.fertilityfriend.com or read Toni Weschler's taking charge of your fertility

and BoB 14 days as a rule of thumb is not a good guideline unless you happen to be one of those women who do ovulate on or around day 14 Sad ...

babyonboard · 26/05/2006 11:17

any news bf?

breakfastfairy · 26/05/2006 20:37

hi there sorry not updated, but I have not tested yet, I have been so busy with dd and am starting to feel a bit premenstrual today so perhaps my af is coming, due tomorrow actually. What I would say is that I feel incredibly tired, and have a creamy cm (oops if tmi) which is unusual at this time of the month for me, I should find out tomorrow if AF arrives.. I got very excited, then worried at the thought ot pregnancy and now dont know what to think... I shall certainly update and thanks for the feedback ..
