Thats ist really, short and to the point.
Have been ttc for a while, gp has done bloods on day "21" and all i can glean from the officious receptionist is that they are "normal" , no further details unless i wanted a gp appt on 22june!! I already have this gyny appt booked for tomorrow, any ideas what this will entail on first visit? Am not sure if they will have the blood test results from gp for me to discuss further or will they do more do you think? Not sure what the procedure is from now, can anyone enlighten me with their own experiences of time frames etc? Also (sorry tmi) am on day 6, so although not really bleeding anymore am a bit worried if they do internal and is a bit bloody up there? Are you still supposed to go if you have just finished your period? or rearrange? am new to this and hate it all. Only thing keeping me going is trying to think to myself "it will all be fine" and that i am only going to RULE OUT anything being wrong not to FIND OUT what is wrong. If that makes sense. Sorry i am probably just worrying about the whole thing but being unsure about what will actually happen is just makeing me a bit more anxious on top of everything.
Any ideas gratefully recieved.
Thanks x x x

Question for Little Fish

When you had acupuncture where did they stick the needles? I am booked in for my first session on 7th June 2006.

thanks

Littlefish · 19/05/2006 13:22

Hi Natty - I'm wracking my brain to try and remember where the needles were put during all my initial appointments. I think it varied a bit, as she not only addressed my hormone imbalance, but also, my general well-being.

I seem to remember them being put around my belly button, my shin and my shoulder blades. She also does a point that I really hate, just below my big toe joint on the outside of my foot!

She never left the needles in, just put them in, waited a few seconds and then took them out again. I still have acupuncture now, and have never really had any pain from the needles. They are so fine that you really can't feel them going in. Any pain or more often, discomfort was a reaction to the needle reaching the right spot! Sometimes I felt a sort of tingling, sometimes it felt like a tiny electrical current rushing up my body, sometimes I couldn't feel anything at all and she would try again.

I've always found acupuncture to be incredibly relaxing and always come away from the appointment feeling calm and peaceful. This may be because my practitioner has always spent at least half of the session talking with me about my current state of mind, hopes and fears about motherhood etc. It really helped, particularly in the early days to have someone to discuss everything with.

Good luck with your appointment - let me know how you get on.

Sottovoce - are you a singer?

Natty1806 · 19/05/2006 14:03

Thanks Little fish.

Will let you know how i get on, have got a few weeks wait ahead of me.
Another little question - what should wear ( i know i am weird to think of these things) but should it be something casual or am i okay going in my work clothes? as my appointment is after work.

thanks

Littlefish · 19/05/2006 14:44

You're absolutely fine going in your work clothes. I often used to go straight from work too.

Depending on which parts of the body the needles are going in to, you might be asked to remove some clothing. I usually have to take off my top, socks, shoes and watch (leaving my bra on). Occasionally I've left my top on but had to remove my trousers. Remember not to wear a thong!!!! (I did this once with a chiropractor and nearly died of shame Blush

Something else I've just remembered - each needle session started and ended with her taking my pulse at the wrist on each side. Apparently they can tell a lot from the pulse!

Natty1806 · 19/05/2006 15:19

Thanks - that is one thing i would have forgotton about as i always wear thongs!

Grin

Do you think it helped you to conceive? How long were you having treatment? Where you clomid etc aswell?

Sorry for being nosey it's just i am so desperate i will do anything, but my nhs waiting list is 8 weeks so need to do something in the meantime.

hiya all, thanks for all the info meerkat and littlefish. It is starting to sink in a little i think. I havent been given another appt yet, was told to wait for the appt coming through for the lap'y but i guess i may recieve an appt when they have done my next lot of blood tests. As for ewcm, its funny but i never have that at all, but as i was getting egg sign on persona, and having what i thought was twinges and pain around ovulation, i thought that maybe i was ovulating but just not producing ewcm. For that reason we have been using pre-seed (sperm friendly lube). Now im worrying that i never ovulated at all. Dont really know what will happen next....
Dh and i had a short but calm chat about it all last night, he said he will support me no matter what and when i mentioned sperm test again he said he will do when the time is right. I didnt push it, as for some reason like we have said this seems to be a sensitive subject, but i think he will do it when i get the appt through for lap. Am trying not to make a big deal of things. In my mind i am trying to be calm and rational even though i am scared. My sister has had problems ttc, and has had laparoscopy which resulted in tubal surgery (tubes removed), then 3 X ivf, ectopic preg and miscarriage. No baby so far Sad Tis all a bit much to consider I may have a problem too. Littlefish, was wonderful to hear your story and your long awaited child. I have heard similiar stories before, it is heartwarming to be able to share good news even if it is few and far between. Thankyou to everyone for posting, also to meercat for the technical stuff re. hormone levels /tests etc. I am such a novice, feel like i will never remember everything.
