2nd baby? how long do they take???

My daughter is nearly 12mths and we would like to have another. DD stopped bf at 9mths and period returned within a fortnight.

But then it took 45 days for next period. Does this mean i didn't ovulate? Does the fact that it took 1 year to conceive the first time have any bearing on ttc #2??

Going nuts with isis scope which is giving very mixed messages! How long did it take you to conceive #2?

Imo the best way of thinking would be that it will take you a year to conceive another child. Everyone is different, and every pregnancy is different, but if you think that it will take as long to conceive your second, then if it happens sooner you will be pleasantly surprised, if it takes a year it will have lived up to your expectations and the disappointment every month will be easier to bear as you can tell yourself that "we've still not been trying as long as we did for dd".

I've been trying for a year to conceive my 2nd, things are uncertain for me now, but sometimes I do lose track of the fact it did actually take me 13 months to conceive my DS. My sister however, conceived 1st month with her DS, and it took her 6 months with her 2nd, and that was much harder for her to accept as she thought she would conceive straight away again.

And tbh I'd get rid of the isisscope as it doesn't appear to be very accurate and imo just leads to more stress.

Just my own experience: it took us about four cycles of trying to conceive our second, the same time it took for the first.
It's early days yet though, I'm only six weeks along!

hiya skerriesmum im not to bad although still have no conclusion lol. have to go tomorrow to take in a urine sample and have a blood test to check for thyroid function - again. If no conclusion then they will send me for an ultrasound.

Be sure to post as soon as you have news, we're all dying to know! (Like you aren't )

Ds1=2 months
M/C=1 month
Ds2=over 4 years
Ds3=1 month.

I have absolutely no idea what ds2 was waiting for.

No bearing at all Rubymummy. It took us nearly 12 months to conceive DD, as we are getting married in July we decided we would start trying straight after the wedding so i came off the pill in February to try and give my body a chance to recouperate.

Nah uh, am now 13+3 weeks pregnant with #2, will be 20 weeks pregnant when i get married and due in November. Has no relevance at all :)

6 mths for first
24 + mths for second
1 month third!

4 months for first
2 months for 2nd

6 months for the first
2 months for the 2nd came off pill had a 37 day cycle before period then got caught currently 6 weeks.

m/c 1 month
DS 1 month
DD1 1 month
DD2 1 month

Number 4 will be a different story as I'm now having gynaecological problems and a DH that isn't so keen.

A friend of mine took 12 mths for ds, 12 mths for dd. On hols decided not to use protection thinking she would never get pregnant and what do you know, she's now 8.5 mths pg with ds2 (and she didn't want to be).

So everyone's different and I'm sure the 'go on holiday and relax' technique works wonders for alot of people. We were on holiday for 3 out of 4 conceptions.

Only 1 month for the first

but then 1.5 years (& 3 cycles of clomid) for the 2nd (early days for me too... only 7+1 at the mo)

6 months for DD1 and 6 months for DD2. Fell pregnant the 7th month of trying w/each girl.

1 month for dd now aged 2.5
1 month for no 2 a stillborn girl last april

now 12 months trying again

1 month for ds
15 months for nr 2 (currently 9 weeks in)

for my first 2 pregnancies conception was within one month but lost them both.

DS took a week..we said shall we try and turned out I was
8mths for next baby but had missed mc
DD took 3mths
DB took 1 mth and am currently 8wks ish

5 months DS1
1 month DS2
1 month DS3

I have been very lucky and got pregnant the first month I tried for both my dd's. I'm 'old' at 39 and had my dd's at 37 and 38. HTH

Yes I am 'old' too

Had dd at 36
was pregnant again at 37

now nearly 39 and despite lack of bfp have been told my fertile age is 33 so heres hoping

Sorry to jump onto your thread, but I just got af back too having cut breastfeeding down to one or two feeds every 2-3 days and was wondering if most people found they had similar to RM, where they weren't sure if they were ov or not, or if anyone returned straight to a regular cycle?

Also Wannabe, just out of curiosity, in what way is the isis scope in accurate? False positives or negatives? Must admit I hate mine now, but always assumed it was me not it that wasn't "working" properly!

Ours was exactly the same as the first - 2 cycles. I was rather surprised, though, as I'm 41 and had geared up for a long wait.

1 month for dd
1 month for ds (this was a big surprise as I'd been told it would take longer to get pg second time, particularly as I'd had a c-section with dd - no idea what the theory was behind that)

I might be preaching to the converted here but if you haven't already got it, the book 'Taking charge of your fertility' by Toni Weschler (sp?) is absolutely fantastic. I was charting my cycles both times I got pg (I know I was very, very lucky too) but also because I had a really good knowledge of my cycle dh and I tried the Dr Shettles method of conceiving a boy because already had a girl and we did!!
