Getting pregnant after an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, I am new to this forum and I wondered if anyone could offer any advice if they have been through something similar. I had an ectopic pregnancy resulting in my right tube being removed about 4 weeks ago. I wondered when I would expect my period. Do you count day 1 of your cycle as the day after the operation when they removed the baby? Or does it take a while for everything to get back to normal? Also, does anyone know if it takes longer to get pregnant with only one tube (apparently my left tube is fine and I have two ovaries still). Any advise would be appreciated as I would like to start trying again. Thanks.

Hi cigrab
sorry to hear you've found yourself in this situation. I hope you're doing OK in this tough time. I've been there too and had open surgery in October to remove my rt tube. There's an ectopic support thread over in miscarriage and plenty of women there who have conceived after an ectopic. We're not TTC yet (we weren't when I got my BFP so have decided to wait a bit till we do), so I can't offer direct advice. All I can say is that I got my period almost exactly 2 months after my operation and have been broadly regular since (about 31 day cycle).
I think with a surgical option for ectopic, they say you can start TTC as soon as your periods come back, but someone on the thread will be well able to help you.

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for letting me know about the other thread. I'll have a read. It will be reassuring hearing from others.
