A fertility friend charting question

Hello ladies,

I have suspected pcos (I was very luck to get pregnant with my beautiful son before we found out for sure) I am currently trying for a second baby (first conceived by charting) because of the pcos my temperatures can be all over the place and my cycles are very long.

I am sure I ov'd this month and had s temp rise but ff has not recognised it. Has this happened to any one else?

Would love to share my chart with experienced charters if possible.

Look forward to hearing from someone

X

Hi there, I'm not really an experienced charter, but I've also had it that FF didn't recognise my ovulation day - which I was certain about because I had also been using an OPK.
What happened in my case was that on one day, I had taken my temp too late because I slept through the alarm after being up all night with my sick DS.
Once I discarded that temp point, FF readjusted the chart and I got the crossed red lines.
Did you check if all the times of your temp values match? FF is quite finicky about it, you should get a white circle instead of a blue one as soon as something doesn't add up. Might be worth checking, if you have any of those.
And I can also recommend using OPKs in parallel, if you have irregular cycles, then maybe go for the cheapie ones off Amazon - or you invest in the digital ClearBlue fertility monitor, but that can get expensive...

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I have not been very regular in the times I have been taking my temps. I only work wed, thurs and Fri so get up earlier those days. I will have to start setting my alarm!

I will see how this cycle goes and start again when AF arrived x

I'm wondering the same thing.. All my dots are blue on the graph... I'm on CD16 today but still no cover line/cross hairs.. When do they appear?!

Hi there, I'm happy to take a look at your chart.

I had the same problem with FF, it thought I had ovulated early based on a rise in temperature (but actually it was only higher than the previous few days, not the days before that). I knew I hadn't ovulated because my Clearblue monitor had only showed one High fertility reading at that point, and I had no EWCM. You can override their ovulation date manually. I did this but then after ovulation I checked again and saw FF's date had moved back to agree with mine.

As the previous poster said, they are funny about you taking your temperature at the same time every day on the charts (even though their formal advice is to do it after as much sleep as possible). I set my alarm and then go back to sleep again if possible!

Also, the charts don't seem to like it if you miss readings.

I'm not sure how to share charts on FF but my user name is FROGGY258. This is my second cycle of charting but I've done quite a lot of research on it!

Not sure if this will work

My Ovulation Chart

That is the link to my chart. I have been in and changed all the times just to see if that made a difference but still no sign on ovulation :(. I think I may have to assume I have not ovulated and keep looking for signs and make a better attempt at charting next cycle e.g. set my alarm!

Ooh I would like to have a regular cycle!!

Link didn't work, I will message you my email address, I know you can email charts to friends/family.

Temp charting is not adviseable if PCOS was definitively diagnosed.
With this condition you are more likely not to be ovulating regularly (if at all) so I would refrain from charting in your particular circumstances.

PCOSers temp charts tend to be akin to the Rocky Mountains and are impossible to determine with any real degree of accuracy.

OPKs are also pretty much of no benefit if PCOS is present as such kits can end up just measuring the excess LH being produced due to PCOS.

I would try and see if you can have blood tests done or an internal ultrasound scan as this would give you a far more accurate analysis of what is happening.

Danilou22 · 11/03/2013 13:59

It was not properly diagnosed as the initial blood test I had was taken at the wrong time in my cycle. I did have an internal ultrasound which did not show anything unusual on my ovaries. I was supposed to have another blood test at the right time in my cycle but was incredibly lucky to get pregnant and I now have a healthy 20 month old son Smile and I am thankful for this every second.

I would like to give him a little brother or sister though!

I will go back to the docs i just want to lose a bit more weight first as I am a little overweight and I am sure this is the first thing they will suggest. I had lost weight on their advice before and it was only after I had put it back on again that I fell pregnant! But i do know it should help.

The only PCOS symptoms I have are the irregular cycles and easy weight gain. I am very lucky not to suffer with anything more than that.

I was charting when I got pregnant with my son so I think I will continue although it can be frustrating! I will give it a bit longer.

Thanks for the advice x
