Hi there,

I'm trying to get pregnant which is great. Haven't been trying for that long and nothing seems to be happening, so I'm just trying to relax and not get too obsessed just yet. I've been really sad everytime Ive got my period though, so .... anyway, I am new to this forum, and I just wanted to know what all the abbreviations mean! What is TTC and AF etc? Maybe then I can chat to you all and use the abbreviations!

Thanks xx

Welcome.

TTC is trying to conceive. AF is Aunt Flo.

When you say you are just trying, are you having sex very often? That means at least 3 times a week, or every 2-3 days. You can't just relax and think it will happen. Those who do succeed using this approach probably always are dtd (doing the deed) this often.

You can indeed not get into all the charting, opks (ovulation prediction kits) and others. But just make sure you do it every 2-3 days except when you have your period.

Otherwise it's normal to take up to a year.

Yes I agree with one, with my first I wasn't actively trying at all, we were still doing it regularly but nowhere near every other day. I got pregnant 9 months later!!
Luckily I wasn't that bothered but with my second I wasn't really keen. We did it every other day and I got pg after 3 months. Good luck!!

Sorry I meant with my second I WAS really keen!

Hi, have at look at this page for the frequently used acronyms. I'd suggest you look at some of the regular threads running like the 'Brooking no argument' threads and the monthly buses to feel like party of the conception community and get a bit of support on MN. All the best TTC :)

Hi, not sure if this will help as you arent using OPk's etc but I found a post on another site from a natural fertility expert on recognising your bodies signs for fertility. Its quite interesting and may be worth a read to help you pinpoint the right time to actively try?! Hope this helps forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537 keep us updated on how you are getting on, enjoy trying!! xx

Hi all,

Thanks so much for your messages, it's really nice of you to respond!

I guess we are not dtd enough haha! Excellent news. I mean, the last few months have just been 'ok lets get started' but I think I need to be a bit more active - like today I did the ovulation calculator on here and ... well I guess joining this too! My cycle is really long I think, ranges from 32 to 36 days so ... but I guess everyone is different. Thank you, I'll join the forum you suggested Havingalittlefaithbaby, and wrighty, thanks I'll take a look and ta very much for the tips all! xxx

32-36 days sounds ok. I remember my clearblue fertility monitor pamphlet saying it works for cycles up to 40 or 42 days. As long as it is regular, there is nothing to worry about.

If you aren't the normally active type, then recognising your fertility signs definitely helps. It can be as simple as looking at your cervical mucus. Egg white cervical mucus (ewcm) is a sign you are close to ovulating. I also do temperatures and use an app to track that (fertility friend). I just bought the fertility monitor so haven't actually start using it yet.

All the best. Do look around the forums. We are quite a friendly bunch.

Cool, thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that ewcm! Thanks ever so much. Smile
