Our new home, hope we will all be very unhappy here and leave soon ;-)

Hey Bunny, to my knowledge, the CD3 / 4 test is to check FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) levels, which gives an idea of what your egg supply is like.

Soph80 · 24/02/2013 19:16

Looks like we're redecorating then!!! and buying lots of tampons haha!!!!

navis176 · 24/02/2013 19:18
CatsCantFlyFast · 24/02/2013 20:02

I will add tampons to shopping list. Can you believe in a more mental moment I looked at buying progesterone testing kits designed for dogs. I need saving from myself!!

Pipbin · 24/02/2013 20:10

I was clearing out the bathroom drawers yesterday and counted up all the pg tests I've got; 12, bloody 12. I only bought three of them though, the rest came from when I did the Clearblue trial a while ago.

I do hope I didn't offend any of our faithful Elderberries with my post earlier.

ILoveMyCats · 24/02/2013 20:20

Hello all,

Added myself to the list earlier, hope that's ok. Love the thread and bedtime stories. Totally agree about other people seeming to get pg without trying. DH'S cousin just announced pg. was hoping I'd be pg at her wedding in June, but now SHE is herself. Don't want to feel nasty, but I do. Now it's Katie Price. Waiting for the third person. I find they always come in 3s. Booo hooooo.

ILoveMyCats · 24/02/2013 20:24

Also, most annoyed at people having babies younger than me!

Soph80 · 24/02/2013 20:28

Pipbin - sure you wouldn't offend anyone, I thought it was hilarious!!! Even if I am one of those people who has live a fabulous life, had copious lavish holidays although is now financially stable and with the right partner!!!

I think I'm going to put Katie Price on my 'people I'd most like to burn at the stake' list

SloaneRaver · 24/02/2013 21:26

Hi all, adding myself also, trying not to get obsessed and just DTD from 5 days before OV. Limiting my travel to make sure me and DH are actually in the same place at the right time! Only tried for BFP one cycle, fingers crossed for the next one!

pipbin amazingly hilarious post. Love it! You are in my well-travelled, finally happily-married, career-loving head.

barkingtreefrog · 24/02/2013 21:51

Each time someone announces they are pg my stock phrase is "well no more exotic holidays for them" to make myself feel better. Holidays are our one luxury, neither of us spend any money on clothes or 'stuff', and we don't go out much, we save it all for holidays, and we look for bargains there as well! Most often found camping, or in the budget hotel... We're off to America this summer. We were putting off booking for ages in case I got pg and as soon as I had the AF that meant if I got a BFP next cycle I'd still be ok to fly, we booked the flights. Needn't have worried...

Barking - the referral to fertility clinic is 2 years at my gp if that helps.

CatsCantFlyFast · 24/02/2013 23:39

Does anyone know if there is a standard for when a doc will start running tests eg. After x months or is it more at their discretion?

we're now quite a long list! Here's to March being a BFP goldrush for the wangers!

Boodle9 · 24/02/2013 23:41

I think mine might be 2 years too, but I told my doctor that we'd been casual with contraception since Jan 2011 (which is pretty much true) but started officially 'trying' a few months later and she was happy to refer based on that.

(Just thought I'd pop that in as my 'stats' don't match up with the 2 year thing.)

Pipbin · 24/02/2013 23:42

The guidelines are 6 months if over 35 and 1 year if under.
I know that my GP sent us off for tests after 6 months.

twinklestar2 · 24/02/2013 23:48

Boodle my doc referred us early too as he could see we were doing all the right things.

Pipbin · 25/02/2013 00:27

I did realise though Twink that all this time, and throughout all the tests, no one has checked that we are actually dtd. He might be putting it in my ear for all they know.

happylass · 25/02/2013 07:32

Lol at "putting it in my ear Pip". To be fair one of the first things my GP said was 'you are having sex regularly aren't you, 2-3 times a week?'. But she also said we can't be referred until a year. What sort of tests did you get at 6 months Pip?

barkingtreefrog · 25/02/2013 07:45

We had to wait a year to be seen. The gp actually looked through my notes and pointed out that my last pill prescription was for 6 months supply and that was issued in October so I wouldn't have run out until March. I said yes, but I had three packs at home as I'd stopped taking it when we started ttc?!?! And anyway, I'd been to the doctor when we started ttc because I had to ask about whether to stop the antibiotics I was on for my skin, so that should have been on my notes anyway.

So basically I assume they'll refer us if they've found a problem, as otherwise here's no point doing all the tests, but if it's unexplained we'll have to wait until it's 2 years?
I should stop second guessing really, I'll know tonight. Just don't want to get my hopes up!!!

CaptainMollingtonCholmondeley · 25/02/2013 09:01

I got the GP tests after a year actually a bit less but I lied but got referred fairly quickly to the head gynae at the hospital because of the lump they found at the ultrasound. I get the sense that, even though they've now decided lump is nothing to worry about, I'm continuing with the gynae. He wants to do a lap and dye now, and is showing interest in short LP etc.

So I don't know how long it takes to get to this stage if nothing suspicious shows up. DH has been pointed towards the GP who knows about fertility, no ones said the words "fertility clinic" to us yet, and we're about to start TTC cycle 17 (or is it 18? I lost count a bit after the Dec/Jan lump imbargo)..

So I should do my stats I guess - now that we're getting 'back on the horse' or DH Wink

navis176 · 25/02/2013 09:46

pip is right - the NICE guidelines state 6 months if over 35 and 1 year if under for referrals - can you go in waving those at your GP if they say longer?
