Working out ovulation

Hi. My periods vary slightly and I don't have an 'average' cycle length - anything between 27 and 31 days. With this in mind, working out ovulation is quite difficult. Anyone else with this problem?

Used to have insanely spaced cycles (i.e. anything from 20 days to 48). GP (to my shock, as am used to GP's dissing anything other than meds!), said to go onto 50mg B6 every morning. Was cynical but then stunned - periods then snapped immediately into 28 day cycles. Hope that might help? And there are of course the 'ovulation' timers can buy, though TBH I would be more inclined to go with former (as most women very deficient in B vits anyway) than the latter (which is a massive profit opp for a company wanting to profit via women's needs/desperation sometimes to concieve). Good luck with whatever you doSmile

Have you tried charting your temperatures? This will give you something to look back over to see when you usually ovulate, but it can't tell you when you will ovulate.

Your ovulation day can move around depending on many factors. The thing that is generally pretty consistent is your luteal phase - the part of your cycle between ovulation and your period starting.

Thanks, that's really helpful :) I am such a beginner to all this! Blush

Yes me. My cycles vary that much too. I tend to find that I ovulate between CD 14 to 16. I use OPK to determine ovulation. I gave up charting as I found it far too stressful.
