Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

The ongoing search for BFPs now leads the BESH to the barren polar wastes, in the footsteps of Scott, Shackleton and Franklin.

Pack those reindeer sleeping bags, huskies and skis - we're off to the Antarctic to look for our BFPs. Unlike Scott, we'll eat the poniez if necessary (topical joke). Let's huddle together through the Antarctic night and we'll try not to kidnap one of the emperor penguin toddlers for our very own. Bring on blizzards, pack ice, shipwreck, attacking leopard seals, voyages across the Southern Ocean in rowing boats and hazardous traverses of South Georgia in search of rescue - just like the Shackleton expedition, NO BESH WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.

(do I win the prize for most random fred ever?)

Seriously, she's always off the point - how can she have risen to any position of, you know, well-paid seniority? Unless she's something purely physical, I suppose, like a model, or an artist. .

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:00

Re the carbs, I need to eat a lot of them to maintain a healthy weight, so I will definitely carry on eating lots of rice and potatoes. Hmmm, it's only just dawned on me that pasta is made of wheat. And my poo is fine. Perhaps I'll stay as I am and get some acupuncture Grin

Where is Zita based by the way?

OP posts:
ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:02

No, I don't know exactly what she does but it's definitely not artisting or modelling. She owns an island ffs. How can she talk about impact on the planet when all we want is one baybee each?

OP posts:
RaspberrySnowCone · 22/02/2013 22:02

What Fred are we talking about?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:04

The ivf one in site stuff. I won't link it. Be warned: it's enraging and upsetting. I didn't realise how much it had upset me until yesterday.

TWinklyLittleStar · 22/02/2013 22:04

She seems to do male and female testing, apparently more thorough than NHS testing, and offers acupuncture, counselling, nutritional advice and so on.

However the book started off by saying how women put pressure on men just to shag for their spermz, and how that upsets the poor diddums and makes them disengage. Well, I am FUCKING SICK of propping up HWCA's fragile ego, trying to seduce him at all times in his cycle, not seeming disappointed if he fails to come, not getting cross if he simply cannot be arsed - who the fuck is looking after my ego??

EuroShaggleton · 22/02/2013 22:04

It's deffo the drucks, norfy. During the natural IVF cycle, I lost 3lbs (stress, probably, cos I was eating loads). During the half of a conventional cycle I did and the following weeks, I put on 10lbs. Shock I've never piled on weight like that in my life.

faif I tried the Doves flour for making bread and it was awful. It got shoved to the back of the cupboard after that! Maybe I should give it a second chance.

I'm with you rie. She seems to focus an awful lot on lifestyle, particularly for the woman, which just seems to me like another way to blame women when we all know instadiffers who slipped on some sperm whilst off their tits and got pg. I'm just not buying into it.

Northey · 22/02/2013 22:05

An island? A Blue Peter Tracey Island, maybe?

TWinklyLittleStar · 22/02/2013 22:06

Oh! I thought rie was asking what Zita did! She's based in central London, near Baker Street, apparently.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:07

Me Euro?

OP posts:
ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:07

I was. What? Where? What?

OP posts:
EuroShaggleton · 22/02/2013 22:08

X-wires rie. I see you were talking about X not Z!

I actually know who X is. She's in a similar line of work to me. She has marketed herself very cannily, got lucky timing-wise and has made an absolute packet. She has 5 children.... (And an island.)

TWinklyLittleStar · 22/02/2013 22:08

euro the intro for the book, before I got pissed off and stopped reading, did say that its as likely to be the man's ishoo as the womans, and the man needs to step up as well.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:09

So could you, theoretically, have just the one sesh with Zita and go away with all sorts of dietry advice etc?

OP posts:
TWinklyLittleStar · 22/02/2013 22:10

I think so, yeah.

can I please please have some sympathy for my little strop? I know my problems are very minor and I've banged on about them before, but I have PMT which means I'm not diffed and I need some understanding

RaspberrySnowCone · 22/02/2013 22:10

Ohhh I'm not going near that thread, especially after my twitter argument! I prefer to just ignore all that stuff going on in the news re IVF, I just end up feeling attacked and it upsets me.

maamalady · 22/02/2013 22:11

That's good to know, Frank, thank you :)

indeed, Twinks - it's a partnership not a male ego protection racket.

Maybe I don't pressure HOTB or maybe he's just laid back, but for us SWI is almost always SFF as well. Proof that pure lurve doesn't get you anywhere...?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 22/02/2013 22:12

Five children and an island yet is on that fred lecturing about over population and carbon footprints.

She perpetually to acknowledge that not everyone is capable of "choosing" well paid, interesting, stimulating and satisfying careers which pay £1000 a day. Are you a cleaner? You chose your career poorly. Stop moaning and choose a different one.

Twinks dearest have this husky pup. It must be so bloody wearing for you :(

OP posts:
FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 22/02/2013 22:14

This is making me feel better. Unff, look at those fingers, they could work some magic.....

Sorry, got carried away there Grin

RaspberrySnowCone · 22/02/2013 22:16

I do think men need to Man Up a bit more sometimes, they seem to get jolly freaked out by all this stuff. Ironic really seeing as we are the ones who get fucked around with, operated on and blamed for everything and all they need to do is spaff one out every few days. Then it's our fault they can't spaff because we're pushy bitches.

That sounds like I'm being nasty and I'm not trying to be but it all seems to be about how much pressure the bloke is under but as Twink says, who is looking after us with all the pressure we have?

maamalady · 22/02/2013 22:16

Look at his FACE too, so intense... Godawful hair, though.

RaspberrySnowCone · 22/02/2013 22:18

God he's so lovely. Bet he'd spaff in all the right places :)

RaspberrySnowCone · 22/02/2013 22:19

I'm really liking the word spaff at the moment, spaff, spaff spaff! It's my new favourite word! Spaff
