Temping Expert?

Morning

Wondering if someone could give me some advice on temping please?

My normal waking time is 07:00 but this morning I woke up at 05:20 having to go to the toilet. I took my BBT before actually getting up and it was 36.41. I went back to bed and slept until 06:50 and took my temp again which was 36.96 - a big difference!!

Which one should I record?

I'd record the first one. How so you record? Fertility friend lets you say the time you took it and I guess takes it into account.

I used to get this a lot and recorded the first one as well in fertility friend.

Hi jennimoo thanks for your reply.

I just found this on Fertility Friend Q & A so I guess I need to record the second but to be honest I wasn't asleep for that long so not sure it is accurate. Oh well I guess tomorrows temp will give me a clue if it was a one off! Confused

I took my temperature when I first woke up in the night and then again at my usual wake-up time. Which temperature should I use?

In general, you should use the temperature from your regular wake-up time. If you get up in the night for any reason and you know that you will go back to sleep and wake again at your usual wake-up time, resist the urge to take your temperature. Taking your temperature more than once usually just leads to confusion and will often make you lose more sleep.

If you are not sure that you will be able to go back to sleep, you can take your temperature, but only use it on your chart if you are not able to go back to sleep. Always enter any special circumstances in the notes section of your chart so that you will remember what conditions might be affecting a temperature reading.

If you have learned through charting over several cycles that you are more likely to get an accurate reading after your longest resting time, rather than by taking your temperature at the same time, (when it is not possible to do both) then you can use the temperature that was taken after the longest sleep period. Over time (if necessary) you will learn the way your own temperature reacts to changes in waking and sleeping times

ps. have decided to go with the first one....it looks odd on my chart but I can at least imagine it is an implantation dip Grin rather than impending AF......

Thanks for your help ladies.

Waves to lizard this is really interesting. I'm just starting to temp again (although forgot this morning...well I have had two months off lol ) and this happens to me all the time. I wake at allsorts of odd hours and over time have realised that my temp after longest sleep period is usually the most acurate. I also found my temp usually goes up a couple of points of a degree when DP is home...weird.

I would say that 5:20 was an early wake up rather than a night wake... I used to say anything after about 4am was time to temp and was lucky to have quite clear charts!
