Very very very very faint line or evaporation line?!

AF was due today but no sign and I tested about an hour ago (with the Clear Blue test). At first sight (after 3 minutes), there was no vertical line. But when I looked closer there was the absolute faintest line. Blink and it would disappear but blink again and you could see what seemed like a very faint line. Showed it to DH (telling him not to dismiss it straight away) and he said he saw something too.

In the light you can't see it and in shade you can just about make the outline of a line. Help! I know you can get evaporation lines so, without seeing the test, what do you reckon?!

I'm trying not to hyperventilate...when should I test again?

Picture please!

ILoveMyCats · 28/01/2013 21:56

Ooooh! Not sure as I've never seen the second line, but I'd try again with fmu either tomorrow (if you have another test) or the following day.

Ollibobs · 28/01/2013 21:58

I did IVF in July/August and on my official test day had a faint line but assumed it was an evaporation line.

Retested three days later and I'm now 27 weeks pregnant.

In hindsight, I wished I used a First Response test as there are no lines, just words.

Good luck and hope you get a BFP!

Ollibobs · 28/01/2013 22:01

Also, meant to say that I only retested three days later as the clinic suggested it. They said the extra few days would increase the levels for detection if I was pregnant.

For the next tests I used first morning urine that I peed in a cup do I could take additional tests.

Good luck!

SeriousStuff · 28/01/2013 22:02

showtunesgirl have tried but it just doesn't come out.

Now I've written on here, I'm worried that I've overreacted! Will see if I can test again in the morning...

Thanks Ollibobs I'll use my second Clear Blue one tomorrow then if still not 100% I'll invest in First Response!

I had a faint line the first time I tested and then I immediately gulped down some water and went to pee again, this time on a test that actually said Pregnant or Not Pregnant.

The result is now asleep in the other room. Smile

Jeggie · 28/01/2013 22:07

Ditto showtunesgirl. Very very faint initially, hubby told me it wasn't... But I waited a few days and lo and behold. Smile

How long after did the line appear? Evap lines tend to appear after the recommended time limit and tend to be grey (although its trickier to tell on a blue dye test).

I would recommend first response early response or Superdrug early tests which use pink and purple dyes respectively - less vagueness! Clearblue, while expensive, aren't actually that sensitive! You might get a clearer result with a different brand.

Thanks for all the advice and support. Still no AF and have decided to wait until the morning to test. Getting to sleep is going to be difficult!

Sorry this is three messages in a row now. Tested again! This time, still a very faint line but didn't have to squint so hard to see it.

DH trying to get me to calm down. Will get a different test tomorrow..

rosieposey · 29/01/2013 23:56

My faint line is 8 weeks old, it sounds like you are pg especially if you don't have to squint to see the line, a line is a line! tentative congratulations :)

SeriousStuff · 29/01/2013 23:58

Thanks rosieposey really hoping this thread ends well! So nervous every time I write on here in case I have to take back my words...

Yea. Thats what dd looked like. Now a strapping 3 year old who likes to argue but cries if i argue back!

showtunesgirl · 30/01/2013 00:02

Ooh getting exciting now! Grin

It's very, very rare to get a false positive! You're much more likely to get a false negative!

SeriousStuff · 30/01/2013 15:20

OMG ladies!! I'm finally confident that I have my BFP. Did another test at lunchtime - a First Response this time - and there is no doubt about the second pink line!

I don't know what to do with myself, I drove home from the office in an absolute daze! Still shaking! I tested in the middle of a meeting with my business partner - I just couldn't concentrate on anything and had to tell her (and was glad for the second opinion). Texted a picture to my DH and he's chomping at the bit to get home.

Thank you so, so much for your support and advice. I really appreciate it!

Congratulations! Any symptoms so far? Did you feel like you were getting PMT?

hoodoo12345 · 30/01/2013 15:28

Such a special time, i remember the shaking excitement/terror very clearly.
Congrats OPSmile

SeriousStuff · 30/01/2013 15:28

Thank you! Yes, had awful headaches and I never get headaches. Really bad hot flushes, to the point of having to strip off there and then, and a feeling of heightened anxiousness/hyperactivity. Also had AF-type pains in my lower back for nearly 2 weeks.

My breasts always become sore before AF, but this time, they feel like they're in the way - especially when I try and sleep on my side (which I always do). Symptom spotting can drive you insane but turns out you can also be bang on the money!

SeriousStuff · 30/01/2013 15:30

Thanks hoodoo I'm already worried that this nervousness is going to harm the baby...and so it begins...

OP posts:
quickdowntonson · 30/01/2013 16:38

OOh, I've got sore breasts and mild AF type cramps/twinges, I'm on 12Dpo. your Pmt symptoms give me some hope!
Don't worry [seriousStuff], I also remember the shaking/excitement with my Dc's, it's probably your raging hormones. Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy x

SeriousStuff · 30/01/2013 16:56

quickdowntonson Could be promising! It's a fine line between hoping it's a BFP and worrying that your AF is imminent isn't it? When are you testing?

OP posts:
HavingALittleFaithBaby · 30/01/2013 17:03

Serious try not to worry about worrying! We had TTC'd for a long time and I was very nervous in early pregnancy. I got through by taking a day at a time, seeing each one as a milestone and telling myself, that day, I was pregnant. Some people like the mantra Pregnant until proven otherwise. In retrospect, I gradually relaxed more and more. I felt better after I saw the tiny baby waving at us at the 12 week scan. I relaxed more when I heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks. I felt myself hugely relax after the 20 week scan when she said everything was healthy! Now I'm enjoying my pregnancy (at 28 weeks) and looking forward to meeting the baby :)

Just accept that you will be nervous...and go with it. One day at a time.

quickdowntonson · 30/01/2013 17:48

I agree, go with one day at a time, I'm sure you'll be fine!
Af due to arrive Friday or Saturday, I'll wait until it's late before I test. (she promises). Can't work out whether my pmt symptoms are v bad news or not. Anyone had experience of pmt then a BFP?
