Chemical pregnancies....should I start worrying

On Friday and Saturday I got a positive pregnancy test but now today I've started bleeding. It's too much to be implantation bleeding etc so I'm sure I'm no longer pregnant Sad
This is the second time this has happened. Is this common? Should I be worried about being able to stay pregnant?

I'm really sorry to hear this, can you go to your GP to get checked for sure? x

Really sorry along I had 3 damn chem pregs last year (they came one after another). I think it is quite common.

Because I had 3 my GP referred me to a consultant who did a great load of tests which all came back fine. She said the bad think is there isn't mucus we can do for you but the good thing is you are much more likely to have a positive outcome (ie a healthy pregnancy) within a year.

Chances are you have just been unlucky. It might be worth asking your GO to check you for sticky blood.

Best of luck trying again.

Hi alongexhale

So sorry for your losses, I am going through a similar situation to you at the moment, had a chemical pregnany in December and again this month. December was my first month ttc and two have two in a row is really worrying me! I am only 24 and do not have any other children. After the one in December I wasn't too worried as my doctor mention that its very common in first time pregnancies she even used the worried 'majority' which I think is a bit of an overstatement but I think it goes so unnoticed by most unless testing before period is due. She advises me that in future I would be better not testing until period is late. However this month, me being me, I just couldn't stop myself from poas yesterday and did so at 11dpo and got a positive on 2 superdrug tests (faint but still positive) then later that day I started bleeding. If i hadnt tested early i wiild never have know. However, i don't know about you but I would much rather know I was having a chemical pregnancy by testing early than not know and let the problem (if there is one) continue.

Anyway, I went to the doctor this morning and he was very helpful. He took a blood pregnancy test and also urine sample and vaginal swabs p rule out any infection. You should defiantly go to your doctor if you are concerned, even to put your mind at ease.

I am thinking that my problem may be related to my luteal phase as this month it was only 11 days and I have read that less than 12 is not idea as it needs at least 10 days to implant properly. My cycles this month was only 27 days and i didn't ovulate until day 16. Not sure if this is due to the previous months chemical delaying my bleed and this months ovulation (I hope!)

Anyway sorry about the super long post. I just thought I best explain so you knew whether you were going through a similar thing
I would definitely go to your gp though.

Anyone else gone through this and found out what the problem was/gone on to have successful pregnancy?

I've been TTC for 4 months and had a chemical pregnancy last month. It's gut wrenching. I only knew because I had what I thought was a very heavy period for me with very painful cramping. I went to the GP who did a blood test which showed I was pregnant (but only just). I've kept trying and think my period is about to arrive as I've got the usual pain.
GP said there was nothing I cd have done and that they are very common. Agree it's best to test after you are due. I'm encouraged by When She Was' post.
Good luck

Thank you for everyone' s replies.

it's the not knowing if there a problem that I find difficult.

whenshewas are you still ttc?

I've been doing some internet research and wondered if it was related to low progestrone? I''ll keep trying and hope it doesn't happen again and if it does I'll speak to GP.

Hi, this is my first post on here. After 6 months of trying we got our first bfp. We got (stupidly in hindsight) excited, then 4 days later bleeding and cramping (worse than usual af but luckily not unbearable). Hcg dropped to 0 within a week. Friends everywhere are announcing pregnancies, including a close friend with twins which is making it especially hard. I feel partly ok that I can conceive (was on depo for 5 years so was concerned that I wasn't ovulating) but really anxious about trying for ages again only for the same thing to happen if I can't carry a pregnancy. I agree that shortncycles / low progesterone is a worry. People have said it it's just bad luck and doesn't bode for future problems, wasn't meant to be etc and that in the days before early test sticks you would just never have known. I think it just feels so sad to have had 4 days of hope taken away and being in my 30s it feels like I'm losing time. Good luck to you.

Hi along yes we are still ttc. We took a few months off at the end of the year but are now trying again. I have wondered if it is low progesterone affecting implantation but I really haven't a clue.

I've decided it was just bad luck and I'm going to keep trying. I have one dd already so I know my body can do it.

wine really sorry about your chem preg. It really is most likely bad luck. Best if luck trying again.

Hi I had a CP in July last year. Period was 2 days late, took a test, got a faint BFP, BFP turned fainter next day and negative day after and period arrived heavy and painful.

We haven't conceived since, but I have also been trying to evaluate what caused it and why it happened or will it happen again to me?

DH's SA came up with low morphology which is high presence of abnormal sperms. Initially I thought an abnormal sperm fertilizing an egg could have caused chromosomal abnormalities which caused my uterus to reject the embryo and prevent it from fully implanting. But the fertility specialist said abnormal sperms struggle to swim up the uterine canal because they are deformed (tail missing, head missing etc) so it would be impossible for them to fertilize the egg.

Next theory was obviously progesterone levels - I had mine tested after OV this month and my levels were high which mean I am producing enough progesterone to sustain a pregnancy. All my internal scans (womb lining, uterus etc) have come back normal.

This month I had really strong uterus cramping at 7-9dpo, implantation dip on temp chart and similar cramps to what I had in July. I thought yay this might be our month, but all cramping stopped at 10dpo and I am too scared to test incase it turns out to be another CP. I just wish we could see what's going on inside our bodies in the 2ww.
