Hi, I've copied this from Infertility as there seems to be more traffic here.
We're just at the point of being referred for IVF after TTC dc2 for 2 years and only managing one ectopic in that time. The gynae I've been seeing for tests has now diagnosed us as "unexplained", with slight complications of only one Fallopian tube after the ectopic and slightly low morphology results for DH sperm. We need to choose a clinic (will be going private as no NHS funding) but are struggling to choose and feeling a bit overwhelmed. The doctor mentioned Guys as being very good, does anyone have any experience there please? Thanks.

A lot of clinics have Open Days. Go to a couple and see if you like the place.

Some clinics are very full on (loads of tests, loads of drugs), others just seem to plonk everyone on pretty much the same drug regime, so offer less aggressive IVF (mild or natural). Different things will suit different people.

Personally, we are going with Create because I had a bad experience on convenitional IVF drugs so I want a low drug approach. I have a friend who has 3 IVF babies from treatment at Guy's and seemed pretty pleased with the treatment there.

Hi, we are with CRGH. I conceived first cycle (now have a 16 mo DS) and am going for number 2 with a frozen embryo from last time.

They are busy but they seem to get fantastic results.

Hi OP, DH and I had IVF at Guys for unexplained infertility. It was slightly complicated because I have PCOS although I still ovulate so they didn't think that was an issue but it meant it was difficult to find the right levels of stim drugs for me.

We had one cycle cancelled because my ovaries went nuts on the stim drugs (60+ follicles!!!); then fell pg on the second cycle and now have an amazing DD snoozing as I type.

Good things about Guys:

  • they have some amazing drs who are world class at fertility treatment
  • all the staff were very professional and things happened quickly. I know that sounds like small point but being seen on time and having everything run like clockwork made me feel confident that they would get everything else right
  • they looked after us very well after the bfp and let me come in for scans even when I just felt a bit of pain to check I wasn't developing OHSS.

Mr Khalaf, the head of the clinic, and Mr El-Toukhy, one of the senior consultants, are both lovely. They were supportive and very open and honest about my treatment and I felt I could trust them completely. I had my treatment on the NHS so didn't expect the senior guys to be so accessible and supportive.

PM me if I can tell you anything else about it and all the very best with whichever clinic you choose!

Thank you all. We're not getting a lot of support from the doctors so it's really helpful to get some other views.

I started at Guy's, although as an NHS patient and didn't like them at all. Nothing was ever properly explained. It was all done through nurses, ver hard to talk to a doctor. I had one cancelled cycle there.

We moved to the Lister and I can't say enough good things about them. They are fabulous.
