Me & my Oh have been trying to conceive for just over 2 years & no luck .

At this point you should speak to your dr and be tested. How come your OH has been tested but not you? The tests are usually done in tandem.

Kashdogg82 · 06/01/2013 16:54

My Oh has a different Doctor & I just keep putting it off as I'm scared of the outcome

Definitely book those tests as Euro said, Kash. Try not to be scared - you need to know really.

Do you know when you ovulate and all that malarkey? If you don't know, then it could be that you aren't doing it at the right time. Sounds obvious, but could be the case.

Bearface · 06/01/2013 19:21

Also, Kash - on the being scared thing - ultimately if you want a baby, then you need to find out and there's lots they can do for you if you e.g. aren't ovulating or have other fertility problems. It's better that you find out now than a few years down the line - you'll only put yourself and DP through unnecessary heartache.

Happilymarried155 · 06/01/2013 20:25

Agree with all the above posts, don't be scared the actual tests are not too bad and it really is worth it. If there is something wrong, the sooner you know the better, it could save you years of heartbreaking and not knowing. Good luck!

Do you have regular cycles?

I agree, you need to bite the bullet and see your doctor. Most tests while not exactly a joy aren't too unpleasant!

GeordieCherry · 06/01/2013 21:26

Find out your actual cycle. I had it wrong til we started ttc. Guessed it before but we were successful once we changed when we dtd

I'd second going to the Dr too

Try doing something relaxing for yourself too. I had reflexology for a bit & then acupuncture. I'm convinced it helped

Good luck Smile

Kashdogg82 · 06/01/2013 21:54

Might sound a lot bit dim but how do I find out my cycle ?
I am regular as clockwork though

So your period comes on a set day? It's predicable? mine were quite irregular and I had to keep a record of when they were coming.

Happilymarried155 · 06/01/2013 22:11

How many days are your cycles?
It might be worth you getting some ovulation predictor kits and using them from day 8- day 18 in your cycle to find out when you ovulate. You can then make sure you are plenty of sex around these dates. Although having sex every other day throughout your cycle is also good. That way your never missing ovulation!

My mum and partner were totally independently fertile but had some sort of incompatibility issues which were sorted out with massive doses of antibiotics (iirc - it was 28 yrs ago and I was 6). They got pg with Dsis straight away. When she was 2mo, they got pg again with Db, so it seemed to have cleared up the problem for good. So two points - 1. there may be nowt 'wrong' specifically and 2. it only takes once, as my mum always said in ref to db.

twinklestar2 · 06/01/2013 22:29

i was scared too and felt like a failure but it really isnt that bad and is a positive step forward to getting you what you want :)

Kashdogg82 · 06/01/2013 23:05

Yup period like clockwork 3-4 days at the most & its always 10th of every month

OP posts:
WeeWeeWeeAllTheWayHome · 06/01/2013 23:07

I'm probably being very dim but isn't it pretty amazing for it to be the 10th of every month given the months are all different lengths?

Kashdogg82 · 07/01/2013 00:25

Its always confused me but that's how it has always been Hmm

Technically that means your cycles are irregular but predictable....either way, it's time to toddle off to your GP. Most couples conceive within 18 months (80% within a year, 90% within 18 months) so you need some investigations to see if there's an obvious cause.
