Hi there

I'm brand new to mumsnet (and forums on general) so I hope I'm not breaking any social conventions by starting a thread straight away. If so I'm really sorry but I could do with some advice.

My partner and I have recently started trying to get pregnant and I have come off microgynon after 15 years. I'm a bit worried about how long it will take for me to start ovulating again. Could it be months and months? I'm 34 in a couple of months and I'm frightened I may have left it a bit late. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to MN :)
I fell pregnant with DS (who is now 3) in my 3rd cycle after coming off the pill. I was on the pill for about 12 years. So it doesn't have to be long at all. Good luck!

Welcome, another newbie here too.
Im in exactly the same position as you, have been on the pill for 15 years and have just come off (first week without pill this week). I think everyone is different with how long it takes. Im thinking it will take me 6-12 months, and if it is sooner then happy days! Im 33 in 2 weeks and I feel like I have left it too late as well.
I have downloaded one of those ovulation ap things to help me work out when I am ovulating etc.
Good luck!

You will most likely begin to ovulate the next full cycle after you finish the pills. However, even if you are ovulating normally straight away and are both totally healthy and shagging like bunnies, it is still totally normal for it to take 6 months to a year to conceive. So don't stress about it at first, just keep a note of when your periods are so you can see a cycle pattern emerging and make sure you are having sex three times a week. You are highly unlikely to have "left it too late" - look at how many women in their 30s are having babies every single year. I have just had my first this year, he was born two weeks before my 34th birthday. I have many friends who have had babies at a similar age.

I was on the pill for 10 years and it took me 7 months (which was about 4 cycles) to conceive my DS. I was 31 when he was born.

I was on for about 15+ years. It took three cycles but I didn't know anything about cycle/ovulation so wasn't trying very hard.
