Anyone's periods go irregular after having baby?

Not sure what I should expect....
Periods used to be regular-as-clockwork, 28 or 29 day cycle, did not miss one in 20 years.
Dd was born last June, stopped breastfeeding Dec, had a period early Feb and have not had one since. Have done a few tests and don't seem to be pg.
I had sort of assumed that once they came back they would be nice & regular again - has anyone found this is not the case?

mine used to be irregular, but came back regular! maybe we are opposites.

OR maybe they'll be regular from the next one on.

Thanks Senora P.
Hope they will settle down then because I'm TTC and I assume it's more likely (and certainly easier to time) if they're regular....

good luck. It shouldn't make too much difference though in my experience ( periods were still irregular after dd but before ds) and I think you're more fertile just after giving up b/ ing just like you are just after giving birth.

Mine used to be non-excistant but now i'm regular as clockwork! Weird!

Mine didn't come back as regular as they had been. Before dd I used to every 28/29 days regular as clockwork. Post dd and once I'd finished breastfeeding, they were anything from 27 days through to 38 days...and in addition to that I also started suffering from mid-cycle spotting, anything up to 5 days before my 'proper' period actually arrived. I did go and see a GP about it because we were also trying to conceive no 2. I had all my hormones levels checked and got scanned and all was OK - the odd cycle lengths being put down to 'anovulatory' cycles, i.e. ones where you don't ovulate, due to stress. Did get pregnant 2 months after all the tests though!!

I also found that using Ovulation Prediction Kits helped me to identify what was happening when - although they can actually only tell you if you're getting the LH surge prior to ovulation, they cannot actually confirm whether you actually do release an egg - only a blood test can confirm that bit.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.
I hadn't thought of using ovulation prediction kits, Handbag Addiction - great idea, thanks.
Sounds like it varies and anything is normal -useful to know....
