What can I advise my niece with endo?

Hi, I'm hoping you ladies can help me please.

My niece is 23yrs old and is trying for a baby with her husband, she's been trying for well over a year. She emailed me on fb today wanting advice on how to encourage ovulation, she has now been diagnosed with endo.

I just don't know what to tell her. I've told her of the very few things I kind of know about - clomid and prenatal vits. I told her to talk to her doctor about both of these as I think you need monitoring on clomid?

I really want to help her, I know how much she wants this. I wish I knew more for her, it's been a while since I was TTC but I never had endo when I was so it was different for me.

Women who have endometriosis (endo is infact the second most common gynae problem seen in women after fibroids) need careful management.

Endometriosis can recur; she needs to see a consultant gynae who has a specialist interest in endo and who also has up to date knowledge when it comes to this disease. Even a "mild" form of this can cause intense pain up to and including menses and pain is often cyclical in nature. She should not have any more surgery than is absolutely necessary; to get a good outcome requires a damn good surgeon.

It looks like they've diagnosed her with this (I presume via laparoscopy, this is how it is often diagnosed) and left her to it. Totally unacceptable if this is the case. She needs to be seen regularly by the same hospital team at the subfertility unit and often, continuity of care is vitally important. GP is often of no use in these circumstances as this is outside their remit.

Unless she has definate proof she is not ovulating, clomid will be of no benefit to her whatsoever.

Apparently the doctor just said for her to keep trying and go back in a year if no success?
I've no idea how they diagnosed her at all, she just said she has endo. She lives in Bristol and I like in Wakefield in Yorkshire, I never see her so I only have the info she gives me on fb.
