Agnus Castus?

Has anyone else tried taking agnus castus to regulate their cycles? I took it to help conceive ds and fell pregnant after the first month of trying, my cycles have now gone all screwy and I've started taking it again after a BFN yesterday (not quite sure when I'm due on though, think it's tues/weds, last but one cycle was 2 days shorter, last cycle was five days longer so who knows for this time when we've actually started trying!).
Curious to hear from others, especially anyone who actually knows what this stuff does!

From what I know of it, it really should only be taken with aupervision. It can have quite significant effects of your luteal phase. Have you sought any advice about it?

I take it - without it my cycle is all over the place with mid-cycle bleeding and only a 8/9 day LP. With it I have no mid-cycle bleeding and 11/12 day LP. I've also miscarried every time I've conceived whilst not on it (twice), although that could be down to coincidence.

It apparently can take up to 3 months to have an effect and regulate things though. I guess it's possible it could get worse before it gets better.

Not everyone has success with it though, and I have heard of people finding it makes things worse, even after 3 months.

Hi! I started taking ac beginning of July, I'm still hoping it will regulate my cycles as they have been all over the place since having my lo 17months ago. I've only had 3 af since I had him and my longest cycle was 108 days! I am currently on cd 71 and no sign of af, I'm not sure how successful it will be for me but anything less than 108 days is a bonus! Ive also heard it can take up to 3 monts for it to get into your system .Good luck!

Definitely take advice before starting in any kind of medication, herbal or otherwise. Like others have said, I've heard of it making some women's cycles worse so talk to an alternative medicine practitioner before self-medicating.

Hi, I've thought about taking this (still have the full bottle I bought five months ago!) but I did a bit (ok, a LOT) of googling and whilst some women swear by it, there are words of warning that depending what your hormone inbalance is, it can swing things the other way. I read a link which talked about exactly how it works and why it's a bad idea for some people, so I got worried about taking it. I have PCOS so am looking for a 'miracle cure' to sort out my cycle and kickstart ovulation - just had my first AF in three months of a pointless cycle! AC seems to work well for you though!

Hi, I haven't tried AC but I've heard good things about it from a friend. I recently started taking a b complex vitamin and, perhaps coincidentally, seemed to have done wonders for my cycle so far.

MurderOfProse · 11/09/2012 00:23

Yes, vitamin B complex (at least 50mg I think) can help improve some women's luteal phase.
