Ovulation sticks

Used ovulation sticks with DS ovulated Day 18.
Started using sticks again last month and got the smiley face Day 10 & 11 - unfortunately no BFP so started testing again this month (using same batch of sticks - clearblue digital) and got positives on 1st day of testing Day 8, but also on day 9 and 10.

So, wondering if the sticks could be faulty or could I ovulate that early? I'm 40 so maybe getting the LH surge but no egg?
Sorry - I'm a bit clueless.
Any advice please? Shall I keep testing? I am testing first thing in am, but apparently that's fine with the digital sticks?

Try a pregnancy test. Early pregnancy bleeding is often mistaken for a period, and you don't always test positive before your period comes.

The reason I suggest it is that ovulation tests also pick up the pregnancy hormone bHCG as the two are closely related. When you are pregnant you will also get a positive OPK, once the levels are high enough.

It's also not impossible to have a few days of OPK positives too.. especially if cycles are a bit erratic.

Thanks for the reply, I tested twice before got AF which lasted 3 days and was fairly heavy, so think pregnancy unlikely? Although must admit was very surprised my smiley face on day 8. Unfortunately I'm out of sticks and can't test tomorrow am. I'll pick some up at lunchtime.
My cycles are fairly regular 27-28 days long.

I've had an early, false, positive on the CBFM a cycle ago. No reason for it, just sometimes you get an early surge that doesn't quite make it.

I bled enough with DD1 (sorry if TMI, but there were clots and everything!) that if I hadn't been testing through the bleeding, I would have been sure it was my period. So I guess you never know! Good luck :)

I've seen surges that haven't resulted in ovulation too - a lot depends on the sensitivity of the test too. Often a surge that doesn't result in ovulation, for me at least, goes on longer than normal as my body tries, and fails, to ovulate. Never as early as CD8 though, but then I tend to be really late!
