Unexplained fertility - 34yo, trying for 3 yrs

Hi there, just wondered if anyone is in a similar situation to me. I have unexplained fertility, in perfect health, all my tests including FSH levels, Lap and dye tests have all been perfect. Doctors tell me I am a picture of health. My husband's tests all came back normal too. He is 39.
I was slightly underweight and in order to qualify for IVF on the NHS I have had to put on 3kg. I am half a kg away from normal weight.
I was always extremely relaxed about getting pregnant but I am beginning to feel the pressure after trying naturally for 3 years. I will be 35 in January.
I have now been referred via the NHS to have IUI/IVF but after 3 months I am still waiting for an appointment. I also have an appointment with a private clinic this week as I feel I need to move things along now.
Just wondered if anyone here has been in a similar situation. Would you have IUI first before IVF if you were in my situation?

I should say that I have regular periods and have already had 28 cycle. I am rarely late or early. It's happened about 5 times where I was late. I have never ever been pregnant.

Hi,

I so feel for you.

I'm 36, DH 41, been TTC for 31 cycles and after numerous tests have been labelled as unexplained. It is a shitty diagnosis, because it isn't a diagnosis. I also find it particularly frustrating that on paper we should be able to pop out babies but in practice haven't had a whiff of a BFP.

We are on the NHS waiting list for IVF and have been told that the waiting time is 6-8 months which doesn't seem so bad to me. We discussed IUI with our consultant and while the Trust we are under doesn't apparently fund it anyway, our consultant implied that the success rates of IUI with unexplained aren't that high and IVF is the best way forward.

If it helps you to know (it made me feel better), our consultant, the last time we saw her, said that if you have unexplained infertility then trying for 3 years isn't so unusual and isn't the end of the world and doesn't mean that you won't get pregnant naturally.

Sending you lots of luck.

Forgot to add that while we are waiting for IVF we have been prescribed 3 cycles of Clomid. I know that this is a controversial treatment for unexplained cases but according to our consultant it can change the way you ovulate and can make the difference.
