Has anyone had any success with ovulation testing kits?

I've never used one before, but went out and bought a clearblue digital test today.

Has anyone had any success with this?

Anyone tried a number of types/brands? If so, which do you prefer?

And if you have a couple of days bleeding then a day off before af properly starts, is the first couple of days "spotting" or is it the first day of cycle (so I know when I can start using the test kits!!) Thanks

hi,
I tried clearblue digital AND boots (own brand) ovulation tests last month as a dummy run (will be actively starting ttc this month). I did not get the 'face' on the digital test at all - just got empty circle all the time (for about 5 days). I did get the line on the boots test.

I know some people find the digital one good and regard the line one as too subjective i.e. what you regard as equal strength line may not be the same as me.

Must admit I've stocked up on first response ovulation test for this month.

Best of luck.

Sorry to bump this - I need to know when my CD1 was so I know when I should start testing. I know that sounds really stupid! But I had light bleeding on Thurs and Fri (spotting? was actually hoping it may be implantation as got BFP last Tuesday) then a day off then af started Sunday evening. Is CD1 Thursday or Sunday? I have a cycle of around 23 days and so did a test this morning with CB digital on the basis that it may have been CD7 (ish) but just got the big O.

These things are fiendishly expensive and don't want to be testing when I don't need to. Why don't they let you buy just the refill sticks for the digital OPK?? It's so mean!

When I have bought mine, I have gone for buying from the internet, and buying the brands that just have lines. These are much cheaper than the shop bought, digital ones. I have bought in larger quantities too, as that can be even cheaper again. earlypregnancy.co.uk was where I went. I have some left over now, and unfortunately they are not branded so I can't tell you the make, but I used them last month and found it was clear when I ovulated. (That was just for me, though, it might not be the same for everyone).

Do you get other signs like CM that you could watch out for as a guide for when to test?

The best thing is definitely to just bd every night or every other night from now on, but I guess you know that.
