Hello all! I just wondered if anyone had any stories about getting pregnant after using microgynon for a long time. I stopped taking the pill 3 months ago but have had erratic periods and don't even know if I am ovulating. I know it's silly, but I was thinking of going to see my gp for reassurance. Know I am being silly really but am still adjusting to sex being for procreation not just fun!

I must have been on microgynon for a similar length of time to you. I came off it thinking it would take forever to get pregnant, but. I had one 'normal' period then conceived. Good luck!

I can reassure you! I had been on it for about the same 12 or so years and got pregnant pretty quick - it makes no difference according to GP, age etc is more important. Panic not, early days yet! You could use ovulation kits for reassurance you are ovulating (don't get too obsessed but helped me get preggers with DC2 by knowing I was a late ovulator and we were having sex too early). I found it reassuring to know I was actually ovulating. Good luck.

I was on microgynon for bout 12/13 years. Came off it had 3 months with condoms and then conceived in the 3rd cycle of ttc. My periods were all over the shop but was fine. Am ttc again now and periods all over the place again. Only on 3rd cycle so fx for us both.

Not to scare you, but I think the pill can hide irregular periods and other problems, so lots of people go back to normal cycles straight away and other people find out they have naturally irregular cycles or polycystic ovaries - that's what happened to me. People kept saying my body was recovering from the pill but I don't think it was, I think the pill was hiding the issues with monthly 'fake' periods. So keep an eye and get it checked out with your GP if they don't sort themselves out soon - having said that I've heard of lots of people who just have slightly irregular periods (i.e. not months on end without one) and they go preggers in a few cycles of trying. Good luck!
