After years months and months, and loads of friends well into 2nd and 3rd pregnancies I'm starting to think I'm missing something...

What would your top making a baby tips?

Please share them for all... No matter how obvious they may seem. I'm getting pregnant this year. Full stop.

Have lots of sex? Get DP to take zinc tablets.

I tried for Callum for years months and months and the month I fell pg I tried lying on my back and cycling my legs in the air, desperate times and all that....... DH found it hilarious.

lots of dtd, work out roughly when u ovulate, start taking folic acid or pregnacare - they do a men's one too. healthy diet, reduced alcohol, pillow under bum after dtd for at least half hour, fertility friendly lube such as pre-seed or conceive plus to help the sperm along!

good luck! - also think positive because it can get frustrating!

we do all of the above and am just about to start cycle 6.

Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. Expensive but sooo worth it. Found out I was ovulating much earlier than I thought!

If you don't want to be POAS most mornings just (!!) dtd every other day or every 2 days from the day AF ends to the day AF starts.

Cut down (or stop) booze and fags, lose 10lbs, get some exercise and just try to ignore the TTC as much as possible, if you can work out when you O this helps as then you aren't thinking about it every day.

Good luck!

Hello I'm Faith, welcome to Conception!

The first thing I'd say is don't put too much pressure on yourselves. Don't expect it to happen instantly! 80% of couples conceive within a year, 90% within 18 months.

Check the lube you're using. Only conceive plus and pre-seed are speem friendly.

Aim to have sex three times a week, every week of your cycle rather than timing sex to predicted ovulation. You'll be likely to hit the right time without adding too much pressure!

I'd avoid charting and OPKs initially. Don't get me wrong, they have their place and I wouldn't have been confident I was ovulating without them but they can increase your obsession fixation with TTC. Just keep a track of your cycle length. One good thing to now is you period is only technically counted as starting if it arrives before 3pm. Otherwise day 1 is the following day.

Finally I'd say hop on to a naice thread for support.. I like the Brooking no argument group, they're lovely! :)

Hi, How excicting! my tip would be around ovulation, we tried for a few months and didnt use anything to help redict ovulation when we did it turned out we were trying at completley the wrong time so were not optimising our chances! I read a blog yesterday about duo fertility about how one women used it, it was quite interesting so will put the link to the blog on at the end but you may think t is a step too far? Hope tis helps anyway and good luck!!

Hey curious I too am in the long TTCers boat. We have had two MCs and have been actively trying for 22 cycles but over 3 and a bit years. Frustrating doesn't even touch the sides!! Loads of friends now onto their second child and some hadn't even met their DHs when we started trying!! I have had all the tests done at the GPs now and a referral to a consultant who can't find anything wrong. But we do know that my progesterone is only just in the 'ovulating nicely bracket'. I have been working with a great nutritionist who specialises in women's health to boost my levels and to improve health generally. I worked out that I ov a little later than I had thought and I use lots of cheap ov sticks around when I think I'm going to ov as the lh surge seems to be late afternoon / early evening for me. I'm taking loads and loads and loads of supplements, cutting down booze, trying to be less stressed, having accu and trying to get in loads and loads of SWI (even before and after shag week). I'm also on another lovely thread - TTC 10 month + and the info we share has been invaluable. It's great to have people who understand the woes and to be able to share. Maybe come and check us out? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1537587-TTC-for-10-months-part-9 Other than that, I'd say, just keep at it (oh and see your GP if you haven't already) All the very, very best :)
