Clomid has failed me

Partly spurred on by success from mnet pregnancies using Clomid I took it for 3 months. It gave me such optimism for that time, having ttc for a year, and so inevitably the disapointment at not getting pregnant that third month was a real downer. I think someone here said that it sorted them out a bit and that they then got pregnant the month after so I'm clinging to that - any thoughts welcome.

ginnie I tried Clomid for 6 months in total and nothing. I stopped for 3 months, decided to go for an appointment to discuss IVF so stopped ttc and the day before the appointment found out I was pregnant. It did take us 3 years but we got there in the end! Good luck, hope you are successful soon

Ginnie, I opg on the second round of clomid but miscarried at 10 weeks. Since then I have looked into other drugs - Metformin is often better than clomid if you have PCOS, have you been tested for this (might not be appropriate for you but it's something I am being tested for). There is also a drug called tamoxifan (or something like that) and this works with some women who have had no success with clomid. Have you had any testing done? It seems quite common for clomid to be prescribed without the necessary blood tests being done.

ginnie, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so down. It's awful when you get your hopes up, only to be disappointed isn't it? I don't think no sucess after 3 months of Clomid necessarily means it won't work. After all, all it's doing for you is (hopefully) making you ovulate (has this been checked with scans?). That just puts you in the same position as other people who have no fertility problems, and it would be quite normal for them to take months to conceive.
I'm sure Clomid is sometimes prescribed for no real reason though, because it's so cheap. I was put on it for several months, even though I seemed to be ovulating naturally. It didn't work, and we were eventually sucessful with iui instead.
