...apart from the obvious Grin. Any special diets? Food? Positions?

Brief history here. Been TTC 3+ years Sad. Had investigations. Nothing is wrong with either of us apparently. I just keep thinking IF only we had done that this month, or IF only I had eaten that etc.

We I have carried on living our lives and not even thought about dates, ovulation, etc for over 12 months now, as the only advice we seemed to get was to try and relax Angry but now I'm starting to worry again. I'm nearly 40 and time is a ticking.

I had a friend who made her and her husband drink cough medicine before abd during ovulation. That month they got pregnant, probably a coincendce but they had been ttc for 5 years! When trying for her second she did the same again n was pregnant within three months. Who knows! Good luck x

You've been given crap advice re try to relax. Something is preventing conception.

What investigative tests have been done on both of you to date and when were these carried out?. I ask this as some tests are often missed out. Any test result over 6 months old should be discounted.

Have you thought about seeking a second opinion now and do you feel that you have been adequately investigated as a couple?.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 19/07/2012 14:01

No re diets, food, positions.

I think that something has been missed with regards to your tests and it may well be that you have actually not been adequately investigated.

Happilymarried155 · 19/07/2012 14:48

Atilliameerkat makes a good point tho. That's a long time, maybe seeing more advice and undergoing tests again would help. Maybe they missed something? X

I agree with Attila. I also have a "diagnosis" of unexpained infertility from the NHS and am pursuing further testing privately. "Unexplained" just means they haven't done the right tests. As you are approaching 40, you really need to push quite hard for further testing and conception assistance (if that is a route you want to go down).

What euro said.

Also good luck, I've been TTC for 4 years now I know how difficult it is.

The main problem we have is we are not eligible for NHS funding. DH has a son from previous marriage, therefore we were told there is nothing available. We had appt with a private consultant at the same hospital, who gave prescription for Clomid. The tests were over 2 years ago, so maybe I should go back and see the GP? Just feel like I dont want to do all that again IF we can't get any further along anyway.

Agree with Attila. But I would also say that in conceiving my first two DCs, the thing that made the biggest difference was both of us giving up alcohol entirely. On both occasions I was pregnant three months later.

(Hasn't worked so well third time round, sadly.......)

GoodHeavensNo · 19/07/2012 16:39

You can still have tests on NHS. We have secondary infertility.

We've both had all tests including blood tests, HSG, lap and dye, ultrasounds (both me and DH), several semen analyses and referral to andrologist for DH.

DH received medication for low sperm count which he only had to pay NHS prescription charge for. And I was offered clomid (which I refused).

We did have to pay for the ICSI treatment though.

Are you sure you're not being fobbed off? :(
