AAAAAAAAGH AF due today and am freaking out here

Been ttc for last 6 months and AF due today.
Am driving myself properly NUTS stressing out about it right now. Dreading going to loo every time I need to in case I see evidence I don't want to see :( As if not going to the loo is going to prevent AF coming!!!!
Stupidly working from home today so am able to obsess about it more and more...
Worse thing is that have had even more crazy symptoms than usual this month so am stupidly convincing myself I've struck gold this time when in reality of course the chances are it's just bad PMA.
Any advice for how to get through the day until my period inevitably makes an unwelcome appearance??

Thanks so much SomethingSuitablyWitty!!! Lovely to have the support y'day!!
I really started to get very suspicious myself y'day (and not just in a mad way) when my boobs were just NOT deflating.
Given that I'm a 34A, I should really have been alerted to all this early last week when a v sweet and camp salesman in a clothes store told me I had 'very big boobs'...
Keeping everything crossed for everyone else who's doing the dreaded POAS this month...

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 17/07/2012 10:29

Get used to the sicky feelings emerald they'll be your constant companion for a while now... I never had MS as such, but was permanently feeling a bit queasy and burpy 'til 11 weeks or so, when it eased off.

You can keep things crossed for me next week - I might try weds, if no sign of AF...

So anyway, tell us the story - how did it go? Could you believe it? was OH there? Details, woman, details!

emeraldgirl1 · 17/07/2012 10:35

SomethingSuitablyWitty - EVERYTHING crossed for you for next week...

Details, indeed... woke up at 5, couldn't get back to sleep. I'd decided to def do the test today so I think I was too nervous to sleep. Lay in bed for a bit (on back, boobs too sore to lie on front!) debating how long to leave it... I had so strongly convinced myself by now that it was +ive that I knew I'd be gutted beyond belief if it didn't show up. Also, I don't know, I think I kind of wanted NOT to know for a little bit longer. IYSWIM. (Factoring in my POAS phobia here too!)
Got up eventually at 5.20, located First Response, went into bathroom, did the dreaded deed. For about 10 seconds I thought it was a BFN but that must have just been the dye taking time to react. Then a strong positive came up... Think my first thought was, "oh, shit'. May even have said that out loud. (To clarify, I do REALLY want this baby, I'm just a panicky kind of person!) Went back into bedroom, DH still slumbering away, I turned on the light and waved the pg test at him. He said, "What, what?" and I gave him thumbs up... he went a bit white (he's a panicker too) but beamed, and then we got back into bed and cuddled til we had to get up at 6.15... he dozed off again, would you believe???

really happy for you! Congratulations

redstrawberry · 17/07/2012 16:40

did your sickness feeling start the week before or a few days before AF due?
I get the same thing with the boobs swelling a week before and deflating 2 days before AF is due. I am monitoring mine. But I heard another MN say their boobs deflated yet she got a BFP too so maybe the symptoms can play tricks.

I am so tired of this guessing game and symptom spotting, got another week to go. How did you feel a week before emrald

iloveberries · 17/07/2012 17:17

Hurray emerald! Congrats to you!!x

redstrawberry so sorry for delay in replying, been a manic day...

Re the sickness feeling immediately after eating, that only started the day AF was actually due ie yesterday. In fact that was what really made me begin to think something was afoot (coupled with all the other stuff) because it was so pronounced and so bizarre. Felt absolutely fine until finishing eating and then felt nauseous for approximately ten minutes, then fine until eating again...

Re the swollen boobs, yes so as I said I like you usually swell up a lot in the week/ten days before AF but then deflate :) about 36-48 hours before period is due. Not this time, which again is why a couple of days ago I got mightily suspicious. Plus, I don't know if this helps at all, this time they were more swollen and sore but also more kind of hard, if that makes any sense, which they never have been before. Visibly larger too - as I said elsewhere I should have gone straight out and bought the pg test when a camp salesguy told me I have 'very large boobs' (and I'm a size 34A btw. I do NOT have even remotely large boobs).

Other 'symptoms', if it's helpful at all, were that the week immediately after what I now know to have been conception I was VERY tired (but I'm one of those people who gets a slump every day at 3pm so maybe I was just reading too much into that). Also I had a sudden (TMI alert) runny tummy attack on Saturday that made no sense, hadn't eaten anything suspicious and wasn't feeling bad enough for it to have been food poisoning. Again by Saturday I was wondering if that was a pg thing but didn't want to read too much into it. I'm still suffering with that now and hoping it goes away...

Hope some or any of this has been helpful at all???

EVERYTHING crossed for you!!!

And thanks again to everyone for lovely wishes xx May you all get BFPs before the month is out.

Yes that's been a big help to know you didn't experience nausea till the day AF due and a lot of symptoms you felt were a few days before AF. I was panicking before that I haven't had any symptoms. A lot of cramping, but it could be indigestion or anything. Boobs look the usual size feel fuller and heavier. Now poking them to see if they are hard ;) I hope they don't deflate(lack of better word!)
One more ....did you notice any changes in Cm? Sorry if I'm pestering With questions! I'm just trying to clutch to straws...I will be saner after the next week.

Hope you have a lovely 9 months!

emeraldgirl1 · 17/07/2012 22:33

You're not pestering redstrawberry!!! Not at all.

Yes, I did notice a slight change in CM - usually I would be, ahem, drier in the run-up to AF and this time for about 3 days before I had (a very small amount) of that (TMI alert) kind of white creamy CM that I remember first getting in the 6 months before my periods began when I was 12/13. But it really was only a tiny amount and I can't honestly say I'd have noticed if I hadn't been obsessing like a lunatic looking for signs...

Oh, I re your cramping - forgot to say that I had that too, probably started around a week ago or maybe more which was way too early to have been AF. And an ocasional 'pulling' kind of cramp IYKWIM?

Hope it helps again!!
Can't wait to hear your result when you test and good luck!!! Obsess away

Hey emerald! Faint but definite BFP here too today at 12dpo. So look's like we're in the same boat and hope it will be plain sailing for us both! I think I might be just borderline an April EDD, but maybe see you on the ante-natal threads?

Tinytwinkles · 23/07/2012 12:54

Oops! My boobs were tingly and big till AF came a day late. Plus I had none of my usual symptoms....

Its looking good for u with the tiredness bit. I'm sure you can hold on till tomorrow to use a FMU. All fingers crossed for u.

redstrawberry · 23/07/2012 12:56

congrats something could you share your symptoms too?
I am 15dpo today and so far have had no major symptoms to indicate I am pregnant except sore boobs (but i get that with AF) and the pulling cramping, however again it could be AF.

Resisting POAS untill Friday - AF due this Thursday. 3 days to go.

Thanks for the CM update emerald I have similar white sticky CM very tiny bits of it. I know all of these could be AF symptoms, but it just helps a bit to obssess and keep myself calm.
