Been trying for 14 months now and started tests for issues??? I do not know what is wrong but today 4 days before period due i just want to cry- unexplanable crying! I feel that all the cheerful words i tell myself normally are not working and feel disappointed before the due date is even here! took test today and negative and its a 10ml sens test so again looks like another heartbreaking month! My sister has just advised me she is 3/12 preg and is disappointed as was earlier falling than she wished and i just wish it were me! ( totally selfish and i hate the person i have become for feeling it unfair that it isn't me!) so so so upset right now! My partner just keeps saying it will happen but just unsure it will! is anyone else feeling crap right now? xx

Winkle am so sorry to hear your news! Come join us for serious hand holding and huge box of tissues! When do you see your gp next? How long has this hideous wait for bfp gone on for you? X

winkle, I just wanted to say that ovulation tests/CBFM are not 100% reliable when it comes to pinpointing ovulation. They measure the surge of hormones that occurs just before you might ovulate, but if the surge doesn't get to a high enough level ovulation won't happen. The only way to be sure that you have ovulated is to have a blood test taken (often called the Day 21 test) it to chart your temperatures throughout your cycle and see the temperature shift that occurs after ov. Both can only tell you after ov has happened.

Very few women have a 28 day cycle, personally mine have ranged between 30 and 116 days, and you often don't ovulate in the middle of your cycle. The only thing that is constant for an individual is your luteal phase - the second half of your cycle. Mine is always 15 days long, so I know exactly when AF is due.

I really recommend charting your temperatures. It can take a few cycles to establish a pattern of what is normal for you, but it can be very useful.

Hello kitty - been trying a year but have been wanting a baby all my life! I went to see the docs yesterday because my period has gone AWOL. I usually get my period every month, usually it's a few days out here and there but it's never been this long! So I now have to wait for it to arrive so I can have the 21 day blood test. If AF still not here in 2 weeks then I have to go along and have the test anyway. OH's having the semen test and I've got a few other tests I need to have done too. Sigh.

I'm so confused as to why my period isn't here?! This is the first time this has ever happened to me!

Cave - thanks for all the info, I did know all that but appreciate you taking the time to write it out for me.

hellokittydrivesmenuts · 17/07/2012 09:15

Winkle- the desire for a baby is hard esp when not happening as quick as we want and the fear it will never happen! Now in gp hands you can have all the tests and I pray for you it's just waiting for the right moment for you to be pg!!!! I have started reflexology if nothing else it relaxes me although she has said she can help! Have had 5 now so will stay sitting on fence til it's proven. Good luck with tests, I just had blood one so far and dp has the bottle for his ;-) x

Good luck ladies. I was trying for 14 months for dc3, and on the day I was being referred for fertility testing I got my BFP. Miracles can happen!

Fingers crossed for you all!

Thanks kitty for your kind words and same to you!

I'm on CD39 and still no sign of AF so going to start DTD EODish and treat it like a new cycle.

hellokittydrivesmenuts · 17/07/2012 15:35

That sounds like a good plan winkle !

Need some words of advice apparently my levels were 57.9 on my 21 day blood test which the gp said was very good! But unsure weather it's progesterone or lh they measure and both also sound that if not pregnant can be ovarian cysts or worse cancer! Now I am freaking out!! Another negative test today on a clear blue expensive one so my mind is so so so muddled!

How are we all feeling today ? X

fanjodisfunction · 17/07/2012 17:53

sorry hellokits cant help out with that, but sounds like a nightmare you are dealing with, when are you likely to know, I mean are the doctors going to do more tests or are they going to wait till your next cycle begins?

No AF here on day CD32 or CD30. had some cramping today, a little sharp at times, but no AF. not sure if i have he courage to test in the morning. All Ive been thinking about today is if I am pregnant, or if I am not pregnant. I feel so tired because of all the thinking, Im worn out.

hellokittydrivesmenuts · 17/07/2012 18:28

All is so confusing no ad yet but another bfn today ! Do a test fellow ovulater all sounds promising as sharp pain could be egg burrowing in comfy for next 9 months Grin x x

Oh no hellokits that's so crap. AF still hasn't arrived for me, and I'm too scared to test. I might see how today pans out to see if I will test tomorrow.

I'm so sorry AF has arrived how are doing?

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share my story to say there is hope. I was ttc for 18months before I got pregnant this time. I had given up all hope and had also been referred for fertility tests. Found out the week before the appt I was pregnant and I'm nearly 10wks now. Good luck, but don't give up! Xx

Another advocate for charting here. We also tried for 18 months for DC2, and had been referred for fertility testing. They helpfully diagnosed unexplained fertility, but because I was charting, I knew my luteal phase was too short (and did vary in length, so different from cave's experience). They didn't care about that, but I bullied them into giving me clomid anyway, and got pg after one cycle on it.

I know how demoralizing it all is, but don't be fobbed off by their lack of interest in the specifics of your cycle.

Hugs to you all.

hellokittydrivesmenuts · 19/07/2012 08:41

Hey thanks butter and congrats hon to you! Know what you mean by fobbing off! X
