Hi,

After lots of dithering and wobbles on my part we decided to go for it and try for another.

Im pretty sure I'm due to ovulate on Thursday 28th June and we have been dtd since Friday. Should we keep trying all week (little tricky woth hectic schedules and being like ships in the night!) or go again tonight (when we will manage to see each other) and wait and see.

We are happily married but never seem to see each other at the moment due to work commitments and I don't want to miss the boat!

Thanks in advance.

Apparently the best time to try is 5 days before to the day after ov. So you should keep going, imho. Try to do it two or three times in this period. You don't have to be at it 3 times a day or anything.

I think overdoing it can be counterproductive. For many men it may take a couple of days for the numbers of good quality swimmers to build up again- you want a hugh quality dose each time!

Suggest you go for a couple more sessions beaten today and Thursday. Friday would probably be your last shots though intrigued as to how you are sure you will ov on Thursday - unless you're very sure of your cycle and are dead regular. I can only guess when I ovulated after the event.

eurochick thanks for the reply. Been googling like crazy the last month or so and there's so much conflicting information! It makes your head spin! Some sites say sperm can survive 24 hours and others say a week! Argh!!

Will keep trying then for the next few days ( if we manage to see each other!)

Egg lasts 24 hours. Swimmers definitely ok for 5 plus days though I think fresher ones better!

Been tracking for a while now as this has been a long ongoing discussion!

Have used ovulation calendar to work out when I will ovulate and I'm so regular I can practically set my watch by it! Please tell me the ovulation calendars are correct?! Or am I back to square one?! Confused

If you are tracking for a while and regular then you probably are, though I reckon you could still actually ovulate 24 hours either side of when you think you do, for most it's not an exact science! I was shocked when I discovered I don't ovulate on day 14 like my gp seems to think all women do. I'm more like day 17, but more consistently it seems to be 11-12 days before next AF, which is why I calculate in retrospect.

Some people do have very regular cycles. Its that that matters, not the ov calender. So if you seem to fall into that group, there's no reason to think you won't ov on Thursday. Equally, it. Ot happening isn't a disaster- don't set yourself up for a meltdown!

iamstitch · 24/06/2012 12:18

Gosh, you must know me! Meltdowns are what I'm good at! When I want something I'm like a dog with a bone and it becomes all consuming!

DH is shattered today and all I'm going on about is dtd again! Poor sod! Grin
