Getting ready

We have finally made the decision that we are ready to start trying for a baby. I'm in my mid thirties, so am hoping it won't take too long. I've started to take preconception vitamins, am changing my diet (stopped alcohol and caffeine), bought my ovulation kits, downloaded my ovulation app, so am almost ready to go.
I'm on my period at the moment, so according to my ovulation timetable, should be ready next week.
The only thing that is left to do, is come of some medication I've been taking for panic attacks (Seroxat Peroxatine). This is going to take a couple of months, but I thought I may as well start to get prepared right away.
I'm quite nervous and just want to make sure I do the right thing.
Does anyone have any advice or are there people in the same stage?

Congratulations hopeful, it's such an exciting time when you make that decision.

I'm also in my mid-thirties, so I understand all about the nerves! It sounds like you are doing all the right things, and will be well prepared for a positive result. Fingers crossed that you have a nice, short period of trying before you get that magic BFP.

Depending on your situation and circumstances (period frequency/regularity etc), you may find temperature charting helps, as sometimes those OPKs can be slippery little suckers and it's all too easy (and disheartening) to find you have missed your surge because you tested at the wrong time or in my case had a very late night hot chocolate which diluted your wee beyond belief . Charting will also 'prove' your ovulation, whereas the OPKs only indicate your LH surge.

The very, very best of luck to you x

I think you are making way too big a thing of what essentially amounts to ditching contraception and having a lot of sex.

Ditching things like caffeine and alcohol is completely unnecessary and will make the whole thing seem like a drag.

Once you are off your medication, just do lots of SWI and see how it goes. If you get to 4-6 months in and you are still not pregnant, then it might be worth being a bit more strategic.

But if you start off this wound up about it you are going to make life very difficult for yourself (and close to unbearable for your husband).
