Non hormonal coil removal

Wow this is the third time i've tried to post, fingers crossed it works this time!
So (again) firstly, Hello!
I'm Liz and we're ttc baby number 2, as DD turned 4 a week or so ago and we felt we were ready for another.
I had the non hormonal coil removed on 14th May, and i'm just wondering if it would have had any effect on my cycle? It was in for roughly 8-9 months. I was on at the time of removal only lightly but afterwards the flood gates really opened and i was on for around 21 days all in all.
Should my cycle be back to normal after next af?
We've been dtd every 2-3 days but i've really no idea how all this recording cycles and ovulation date stuff works. After a negative test this morning and a suggestion from a lovely friend i thought i would pop on here and hopefully get some advice.
Thanks in advance
Liz :)

I don't think it would have an effect on your cycle as it is non-hormonal. I would definitely think that it would be back to normal after next af - this is what I was advised (and was the case) when I had mine removed.

I am no good at recording cycles either and go by cervical mucus - when you are ready to ovulate it should be the consistency of egg white (nice!). You will be doing the right thing by dtd every 2-3 days though! If you have a 30 day cycle (for example) you could do that from days 10-20 perhaps?

Hi, thanks for replying!
I've just had a good read of the conception section on the main site, I've never been able to remember how to measure a cycle but I think i've got it cracked now.
Awaiting af in the next week or so, so will be able to record it properly from then on, do normal thermometers (i've never been able to spell that right!) work to get a basal body temp? I've got a vicks digital therm I was going to start using to record temp and work out ovulation but tbh I half feel that if I start getting obsessive about it all it'll be sods law that nothing will happen.

No they don't - I almost started taking my temp with my LOs thermometer until I realised that basal temps are like militemperature things that you have to buy, and then you have to do it at the same time every morning, before having moved or got a cup of tea etc. I gave up the idea shortly afterwards! (but obviously go for it if you're feeling brave :)

OPK sticks are supposed to be good though? I've heard good things about those. Plus you can schedule it in - quite a good idea when you already have a child!

I've heard about those but then I thought they're quite expensive, well £1 ish each and i'm not quite sure how they work.
Do they tell you if you are ovulating or just if it will be soon? What if you do it one day and its not then don't the next day but you are then do the next day and you missed it?
