Ok, so I know ovulation occurs 14 days or so after your period-but what I want to know is what time of day does it occur, am or pm?? Does each person vary?

Thanks

I ovulated on day 22 this month, day 16 the previous 2 months and in January on day 8, so there is no hard and fast rules for which day. And definitely not always 14 days or so, for some women maybe but not for all.

As for time of day, I think it's fairly hard to gauge. I temp so know that when I see the temp drop I will ovulate within 12-24 hours. Could happen in the early hours, mid morning, afternoon, night time, or even the early hours of the following day!

As long as you are having sex over your fertile period you should be in with a chance, as long as there are no underlying probs with you and your partner!

Good luck Smile

How long is a piece of string?! Be wary of the '14 days after AF' notion, I tend to ovulate around CD12 because I have a 26/27 day cycle.

There's a thread a but lower down about what day people think they ovulate. I don't worry too much about time of day - sperm can survive for a few days so are likely to hit the target as long as you dtd around the right time,

Best option is to have sex 3 times a week every week to improve your likelihood of conceiving :)

As others have said [prods faithy] be very wary about the 14-day rule. It all depends how long your cycle is. You'll get a better idea of when you ovulate if you count backwards from the 1st day of your period. The second half of your cycle, the luteal phase, is much more regular than the first half. A normal luteal phase is 10-16 days long.
Personally speaking, I have ovulated, in recent cyles, on Day 15, Day 17, Day 27 and Day 39!

As for time of day, again don't worry. Sperm can live for as long as 5 days, though 48 hours or so is probably the best window for them.

I'm beginning to think that no one ovulates on day 14. As has been said above, don't take that as a rule. It was a myth we were all taught in school.

As Faithy said, have sex every other day and you're sure to catch it.

Hi cymru I have also wondered if ovulation tends to occur in the morning, afternoon or evening. Had a good trawl through google but couldn't find any info at all.

If you find out let us all know.

havealittle is right though about the sperm hanging round for days. I am sure my dd was conceived with 5 day old sperm, so far she is very healthy so old sperm are clearly up to the job.

14 days would be the average IF you had a 28 day cycle. It would be more likely to to 14 days before your next period which of course is not the same. I ovulate between days 15 and 19 but fairly consistently 11 days before my period - that 2nd part of your cycle will be more likely to be regular than the first.
I don't think you can pinpoint the day exactly though, just have a good guess, and very difficult to pinpoint the time.
