Trying for baby number 1 after implanon...can anyone reassure me?

Hi everyone! This is my first post so really sorry if I've posted in the wrong place.

I was wondering if anyone could set my mind at rest. I'm 30, and my husband and I have (fiiiinally) agreed to try for our first baby. I had my Implanon taken out on 23rd May, and have yet to have either a period or a positive ovulation test. Prior to the implant (which I had for about 2 years), I was on the pill since I was 18 or so. My periods didn't really start properly prior to going on the pill, in fact the doctor started me off on it to 'kick start' them - I had one very heavy period at probably about the age of 14 and then nothing really until starting the pill. However I know I CAN get pregnant as I very sadly had an unplanned pregnancy when I was 21, probably due to antibiotics messing with the pill, and ended up having a termination at 12 weeks, which broke my heart.

The doctor said that normal fertility would resume within 3 days of removing the implant. I didn't have regular bleeds whilst on the implant so have no way to estimate when my period was due, although I assume that artificially regulated cycles have no bearing on normal, natural cycles anyway. I had assumed that I would have had a period or at least an LH surge by now (4 weeks later)...am I being too impatient? We've been holding off on trying for so long that now I feel really disheartened that my body is refusing to play ball! It also makes me worry that I might have some sort of hormonal imbalance and that the previous pregnancy was a one-off chance that I've squandered :-( Oh, and there's no way that I'm pregnant already (despite strangely tender breasts and painful lower abdominal cramps after sex since having the implant out) - about 10 pregnancy tests have ruled that out!

Sorry, that was a bit of an outpouring for my first post! Please can anybody reassure me that all this is normal? We're just so desperate to start trying, and this elusive period is driving me bonkers!

Thanks in advance
YP

Hi
I had my implant out on 16th May. Haven't had a period since. Had one in April. Now on Cd60. Still no period one month post implant out. I was told 2 to 3 weeks for the hormones to get out of your system and then things to get back to normal. I'll worry if things are still like this in a few weeks. But for now i'll see how things go. Things take time to get back to normal after taking hormonal contraception for so long. Try not to worry too much i'm sure things will sort themselves out soon.

After some reading around 90% of women should ovulate within 3 weeks of removal. Then about a 2ww for AF. So hopefully I'm expecting AF in next ten days. I would give it another couple of weeks for AF to turn up YP

I had mine out in Sept then strange light period couple of weeks later then BFP in nov. Friend of mine got BFP within 3weeks! I was told during removal to go back to docs if I hadn't managed to get pregnant within 6 months. So maybe you need to try for a bit longer. Fingers crossed for you.

I've used Implanon, and managed to get pregnant once it was removed. Had another Implanon put in after birth of 2nd child, and when removed managed to conceive child number 3 no problem.

I bled each month even with the Implanon, so my periods were always quite regular from what I can remember.

I think you are being a little impatient, ovulation tests etc seem a little premature.

I was 30 when I conceived my first child, and 37 with my last.

Relax a bit, and give your body a bit of time.
