Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. . .

I'm 33 & DD is 10 months. She was conceived through donor egg IVF as I have a diagnosis of premature ovarian failure. Official statistics for natural BFPs with POF say that there is only a 5-10% chance that I will conceive naturally over the next 15 years or so.

In case it's relevant, DD was delivered by EMCS at 35 weeks.

About 8 weeks ago, I started back on HRT as symptoms (meno symptoms) became too much. Consultant said I can continue BF DD as the HRT is bio identical so will not be harmful. Around this time we dropped a feed. 3 weeks ago, I had what I thought was a period, which was exciting (I really don't get out much!) as I usually have to take progesterone tablets for 12 days per month to induce a bleed. 'Period' lasted 6 days.

Last week, I felt that my womb was having spasms & actually said to my mum that the spasms felt like the quickening I felt with DD ( I first felt her move at 14 + 4)
On Saturday, I started to feel little kicks, popping movements . It truly feels as if there's a baby moving around in there. My boobs have felt more tender recently but I am still BF. Other than that, no other pg symptoms are jumping out at me.

So, this evening I POAS (Clearblue Digital, need second mortgage to purchase!) and the result is negative. Thing is, I can feel something! Am I going loop the loop? Or have my Jubilee weekend indulgences just given me a cake baby with wiggly legs???

Anyone else had anything similar happen?

I have not had exactly the same, but I do remember when my dd was around 10 months thinking I was pregnant due to wierd stomack sensations and periods going wacky. I was not pregnant and think it was just my body adjusting post pregnancy and breastfeeding still.

I think that the likelyhood of you being pregnant are low, much more likely to be indigestion of the jubilee cake, but going with the presumption that a miracle had happened to you....

For you to be feeling movements that strongly you would have to be around 12 weeks or so, which would tie in with the 8 weeks ago feeling more meno....! The bleed would have been a bit late for a bleed, but considering you are on hrt, if you were preggo then the hormones were going to be out of wack anyway and thus making a breakthrough bleed a possibility I would have thought.

As for a negative test, unfortunately after 10 weeks pregnancy it is possible for the hook effect to occur with the very high hcg giving rise to a false negative...... So therefore if you are feeling movements a home pregnancy test is not reliable.

Option 1 for you would be to buy a cheap supermarket pregnancy test, and dilute your wee with water and see if the test becomes positive, but this is unreliable as you won't know how much to dilute the wee by.

Option 2 take your thoughts to the GP, they will be able to feel your stomach and know very quickly if your uterus is enlarged as at the stage of feeling kicks it will be obvious to a GP.

Option 3 wait til the jubilee cake has been digested and see if being pregnant and breastfeeding has only just kick-started your hormones into ovulating again and that this is the strange sensations you are feeling (was for me!), as it might mean you are going to get another period in a couple of weeks.

Option 4 ignore the options I have put forward!

I hope others come forward will more suggestions for you soon.

I get popping and things now, four years after my last baby. It feels just like the early movements, and I didn't have it before I was pregnant. It's like ghost movements.

Even if you did ovulate and conceive, its very very early for movement. Sorry.

Hi ladies, thanks for your replies.

Willitbe- you've made some excellent suggestions. I did wonder if you could get a false -ve if you're further along than you would usually be when taking a test. Image of diluting wee to retest is comical but maybe worth a shot! I bled at 5 weeks when I was pg with DD & know that you can bleed any time during pg, especially if you have something like a SCH. But yes- the HRT could've caused this.

Option 2 of going to see my GP sounds like the most sensible option as something's going on. This is the 4th day of feeling movements & they tend to happen when I'm still, like I am right now BF DD. I have an ache in my lower back too but just thought that was because DD's getting heavier.

Smokin- I had wondered about ghost movements. Perhaps I'm actually having a phantom pregnancy!!! (Loony- see?) Whilst I know the likelihood of being pregnant is very small, I suppose there is still a chance. Just to be clear, I know that if I'd ovulated in the past few weeks and had become pregnant then I wouldn't be feeling movements yet. The thing that's perplexing me is that something's going on and it's more of an "Eeeeek! Could I really be pregnant & far enough along to feel movement yet not have known I was pregnant until now?"

If I am not pregnant then I won't be disappointed as our DD was miracle enough and I know that natural BFP's with my condition are v rare but I will wonder what's causing this sensation. If I am pregnant then DH and I will be delighted, if slightly panicked, as we will be having a sibling for DD that we never thought possible but will have 2 under 2 & money would be a slight worry! Either way, it's win win. Just feel very odd!

I'll try and get a GP appt in the next couple of days & will be back to update!
