Have a breastfed baby or toddler? Why not try for another one?! Who needs sleep anyway?

Come join us whether you are waiting for your first period in months or are are a few months into trying.

Well I may invest in one of not successful this cycle. I've always wondered how anyone gets pregnant when you consider all the swimmers lost to gravity Hmm

jennimoo · 10/12/2012 19:12

I already had one first time around but had chucked it as knew bt the time AF returned I would need the bigger size anyway, so just bought a shiny new one from the mooncup website. If I'm unsuccessful ill use it for AF anyway, as got on pretty well with it before.

Pretty sure fertility friend will mark my ovulation tomorrow as a few days of high temps. Feel rubbish and exhausted though, seem to have had sinusitis or something for weeks now :(

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 10/12/2012 19:17

I think the swimmers are shot inside and the cervix is like a gate? But I do wonder about the same question too jakey. I have heard about putting a pillow underneath the bum to stop swimmers from falling out. Does it mean if we stand up immediately after dtd, it's bad for getting pregnant?

jennimoo · 10/12/2012 19:44

I think you're right and the best swimmers are straight in there so it doesn't make a difference, but will try anything.

RainbowsFriend · 10/12/2012 20:16

OneToddlingTerror - I like the idea of "frolic" acid Grin

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 10/12/2012 20:37

I do like the sound of frolic acid Wink

Jakeyblueblue · 11/12/2012 00:01

Can I ask you fertilty friend users a question? I've got the app I think, it was free and is def called fertility friend but the temps seem to be in Fahrenheit not centigrade. Is that right? If so do I need to get a different thermometer. I have a fertility basal one I already bought? Am I being really stupid by not getting this? Confused

So if I'm not Preg this month I've decided I'm going to try every trick in the book all at once and will be adopting the moon cup, preseed, grapefruit juice, opk, hpt, vit b6, charting kind of approach Grin

jennimoo · 11/12/2012 06:27

My bbt thermometer is in Fahrenheit, and I think that is recommended as smart units, although they arent really accurate to 2decimal places in most cases to Celsius would be fine. I wonder if you can change unit in the settings of the app or website?
Just looked in the app click -more button -settings -charting options and you can pick a unit :)

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 11/12/2012 06:42

jakey I'm using Celsius and you can change the unit like jenimoo said. I don't have a specific bbt thermometer. I am using the one I got from boots years ago. It has only 1 decimal place. But I have only started charting temp again this cycle, on day 4. Maybe a bbt thermometer is something I should get?

jennimoo · 11/12/2012 07:11

They aren't that expensive, but I doubt they're more accurate. Most of them seem to favour certain temperatures eg I can get 97.86 on a very regular basis! I got mine from the same place I was getting opks and hpts with TTC DD. Make sure it has a memory so you can take your temp then try to go back to sleep without having to read it. Mine does but I have to read it when wide awake in good light as it flashes on screen for just 2 seconds when I turn it on again! And mine takes an annoying 30 seconds to get a temperature, then lets out some nice loud beeps to try and wake DH!

Zoon · 11/12/2012 10:11

Think i have just missed ov. had a +ve opk sat(i think it was +ve my dh didnt agree) anyway we didnt BD much mainly due to tiredness and illness. now i dont see any line at all on opk. That would have put me at ov cd31. sad cause it could be ages till the nxt ov comes round.
i take b complex, cod liver oil and evening primrose and drink grapefruit juice, initially to help bring af back now to help normalise cycles. who knows if it works.
Really hope one of us gets a bfp soon.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 11/12/2012 10:26

zoon tiredness and illness basically sums up me and DH. DH had a cycle accident yesterday and he's out of action at least for a few days. Luckily I'm having AF atm, and the docs says he should be fine by the weekend.

Zoon · 11/12/2012 10:31

By the way my fertility friends app chart doesnt work in farenheit it says chart too large. my thermometer only measures farenheit so i just convert before entering reading using a different app!

Zoon · 11/12/2012 10:34

Poor man. hope he is ok. we must be crazy wanting another one to increase the tiredness and illness even more!

BigBoPeep · 11/12/2012 18:23

yeah i think the best strongest swimmers get shot straight to the cervix, and your mucus changes consistency at that point (peak fertility yada yada) to allow the sperms through it - it helps them up rather than keeping them out!

that's a point - if you have a cs do you need a new mooncup? :S

Zoon · 11/12/2012 18:25

Whats a cs?

Zoon · 11/12/2012 18:25

I bought a moon cup today!!!!

jennimoo · 11/12/2012 19:53

If you're over 30 or have had a vaginal birth you supposed to need a big mooncup.
Cs = c section

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 11/12/2012 20:35

Have any of you used a mooncup for AF? I have been interested but never got around to getting one. Now there's another excuse to invest in one Grin.

Zoon · 11/12/2012 20:36

Ah, of course. i learnt that today on their website, because i am over 30 & had a v birth i am obviously bagy and saggy. Nice!

jennimoo · 11/12/2012 21:03

I've used it for AF and found it good. Took a while to feel completely natural getting it in and out but all came flooding back when the new one arrived last week!

It's especially good if you have heavy periods (like me!) as more reliable.

I wasn't too pleased at the suggestion of bagginess either, but the large does seem to fit ok Blush

Jakeyblueblue · 11/12/2012 21:58

Baggy and saggy Grin
Ds was 9 1/2 lbs and I'm well over 30 so maybe I'd need a XL. Blush

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 12/12/2012 06:39

I'm late 30s so maybe a XXL? Grin

Jakeyblueblue · 12/12/2012 07:58

What the Confused
Woke up to copious amounts of ewcm. Good job I dtd yesterday anyway, looks like my prediction may have been correct.
Looks like its back to the shagging for a few day. Hmm

jennimoo · 12/12/2012 08:17

At least you didn't assume. We've given up here and fertility friend still reckons 4dpo. DH has had enough for the month!

I spend all this time and effort charting and researching and stuff and he can only manage 3 or 4 times. Lets hope the preseed / mooncup has done the job and he doesn't have to next month ;)
