Hi All,

I'm new so please forgive any faux pars I might make. I have a 3 year old daughter who was a slight accident but the best thing that ever happened to us. I've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now, have had some tests with the NHS which found that I have one polysystic ovary and possibly some damage to my cervix from a colposcopy a few years ago although the NHS docs say this shouldn't make difference. I'm at the stage now where they want to test to see if my tubes are blocked using key hole surgery but i don't want this done because it's so invasive and there's no evidence that this is the problem. Anyway ... am i going on too much? The long and short of it is I think I need to go private so I can talk to someone about what my options are rather than being told I have to follow a set of procedures even if they don't make sense. I live in Worcester can anyone give me an idea how to decide which is the best clinic for me as I don't know where to start? Confused

You need to look at the HFEA website www.hfea.gov.uk as this will give you a list of licensed fertility clinics in your area. Then it is a matter of calling them to make an appointment. You can self refer but they will usually write to your GP or gynae if they need info about tests etc you have already had.
Alternatively if you just want to see a private gynaecologist then your GP should be able to give you some names. They should know the specialists in your region.

Try John Watts, get a referral either through GP to see him in the NHS or he works at the South Bank....of the NHS consultants at WRH, he doesn't do obstetrics anymore and fertility is his main area of expertise.

Thanks for the info - funny enough John Watts is my current NHS consultant but i've only met him once. I've become a bit disillusioned with the NHS and I've sort of tarred him with the same brush, perhps unfairly. Is he good? Have you used him?

Aplogies for tardy reply i'm not very good at checking these kinds of things
