Worth seeing the GP?

I had first baby 16 months ago. Started oral contraceptive pill as soon as I stopped BF (after a couple of months). Came off the Pill about 7 months ago and been TTC since.

Anyway, the issue is that I have never had a problem with irregular periods since menarche! Set your watch by them etc. Until now....... so very unpredicatble now, usually very long cycles.Making conceiving difficult.

Wondering whether the GP will be interested? More bothered about the irregularity as it's so out of character, I know I haven't been TTC long enough to warrant a visit to the GP about that. Not sure what could be done anyway?

Any advice? experience?

I'm 32 if that's relevant

Go and see your GP. Irregular periods can be a sign of other things, so, aside from the whole TTC business, it would be good to checked out and to have blood tests for thyroid and prolactin, for example.

My cycles have been completely irregular since they returned after bf my DS for 7 months; that was 15 months ago. Cycles 16-48 days. Drives me bonkers! Previously spent whole life since puberty with 25/6 day cycles you could set the clock by!

Went to gp and there was no prob doing blood tests or the irregularity. My very clued up gp did thyroid, prolactin and Sex hormone binding globulin amoung others. I did mention we were ttc but explained that I'd have been asking for blood tests by then regardless.

So, for me at least, I know I don't have pcos or anything else obvious going on. I've started temping this month (month 4 ttc) and would seem that I am actually ovulating. All very reassuring, even if we've had no luck yet.

I'm 36 and gp said not to wait and come back in a couple of months for further tests if not pregnant.

So I'd def go to gp, just go armed with specific test requests, including the ones above just in case they aren't offered.

Good luck.

Brilliant, thank you. I won't feel like I'm wasting their time now.
