Positive test with first pee...then negative. Any thoughts?

I had two embryos implanted via ICSI and I am supposed to test on Friday.

However, of course, in a mad, crazy way, I have been POAS all week. Have had a variety of positives, negatives, some I can't tell...(I tend to imagine positive lines).

Anyway...got a positive with my first wee this morning, now two negatives (admittedly I pee A LOT so my pee is very weak later in the day).

Any thoughts?! Please say I am preggo....[cries]

I know I should wait until Friday but I can't!

You are preggo, but don't pee on any more sticks until Friday and only use FMU - pee into a pot so you can then do as many tests as you like from the concentrated FMU.

I really really wish you the very best of luck. And am also ordering you to stop peeing on sticks for now. xxx

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 25/04/2012 13:14

Oh Christ, you just made me cry. Thanks. I was just about to go out and get more tests but I will stop. (I think).

Thanks for the FMU-pot tip. Will do that as I need to ring the Lister Clinic with the result that morning.

Thanks. xxxx

(((hugs))) hold on in there until Friday, get lots of sleep and look after yourself in your condition Wink

strawberrypenguin · 25/04/2012 13:17

Sounds to me like you are but very early days so only enough hormones in your morning pee. Agree with above poster stop peeing on sticks now, wait for Friday and if you imagine poss lines get a digital test :) good luck hope you get many bfp's on Friday :)

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 25/04/2012 13:21

Thanks so much everyone. I need a lie down now. :)

So how did you get on? I'm dying to know...

strawberrypenguin · 27/04/2012 15:34

Hey changy thinking of you too

Frontpaw · 27/04/2012 15:41

Stop peeing! Best to use your first pee in the morning (si its been in your system as long as possible). The things you learn!

Fingers crossed for you.

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 27/04/2012 18:37

Aw, thanks so much for asking.

Bad news I'm afraid- all negatives today and I feel very PMS-y and crampy.

So I guess it was a chemical pregnancy. :( Should have waited until today and saved the heartache. But of course I never listen...

It's getting my hopes up that I can't stand.

Oh well. Just wait for my period now. This was our second go at IVF (ICSI, actually) and I think that's the end now (I'm nealry 43).

Thanks so much for the support.

Away! My friends mum was 46 when she had him!

Good luck.

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 27/04/2012 18:47

Thanks Frontpaw. I have an AmH of 0.7 and crappy quality eggs though so I think that's it unless I get an egg donor.

OP posts:
Frontpaw · 27/04/2012 18:50

I don't know what that means unfortunately! Is an egg donor something that is likely for you?

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 27/04/2012 18:57

Oh sorry; I get wrapped up in IVF-World too often. It means a very poor egg reserve (not many left) and from the investigations that have been done, the quality is poor. I have fertiltiy way below the average for someone of my advancing years.

An egg donor is technically possible but I am lucky enough to already have one son and I don't want to risk feeling differently about a child from an egg donor. I'm sure that sounds weird but I would worry about my first child always being the favourite (and I'm sure that would be the case).

Ahh that makes more sense! My friend had IVF (lots of it). Why just 2 - don't they usually do more than that?

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 27/04/2012 19:14

Well, I'm over 39 and have a child so wouldn't get even one cycle on the NHS and so it has cost us £8,000 each time. So that's £16,000 so far. :(

I could go on and on until the eggs run out but the money will run out first! :)

Sad sorry to hear that, look after yourself x

clickingtock · 28/04/2012 13:42

Very sorry to hear your news Changy. It's v tough. Thank goodness for your son.

I have just one DS too. Have been trying for DC2 for over a year now (and have turned 40)... It's all a bit heartbreaking.

Good luck with your next steps, whether they be to move one and enjoy the benefits of only having one child, or egg donation...

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 28/04/2012 15:49

Thanks very much strawberry and clicking..

Yeah, it is heartbreaking, clicking...but when DS1 wakes up at 5am I remember the benefits of only having one and not more babies to feed, change etc!!!

Good luck clicking and everyone else trying.

clickingtock · 28/04/2012 16:31

Yes - a new baby is a huge commitment and one gets so obsessed with getting a BFP it's easy to forget how knackering it all is etc.

My DS is 2.2 so not so bad on the sleeping front though we are just about to start potty training.

Having said that we are thinking of moving on to assisted conception now before it's too late... Can't quite throw in the towel!

Good luck if you have another go.

ChangyMcNamechangerson · 28/04/2012 18:50

Thanks, you too. :) It's a big decision to go for assisted conception but at least you can then say you have explored every avenue.
