Should I stop AC?

Brief history - DD is 20m old. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries (NOT PCOS) before falling pregnant with her (first attempt..). I BF her for a year and didn't get my period back until I totally weaned her.

My first two periods post-BF were very light and very different lengths, so I started taking AC (Vitex / Agnus Castus) to see if this would help. I also had an internal ultrasound during cycle 3 which showed everything looking normal (no polycystic ovaries).

My next two periods were back to normal (and all ovulatory according to the OPKs). I'm just about to finish cycle 6 (also ovulatory - confirmed by US).

I had an US today which showed that my polycystic ovaries have returned (again, not PCOS). The doctor wasn't worried since I'm clearly ovulating and simply said to keep my weight under control (not a problem - nowhere near overweight), keep exercising (again, not a problem - workout almost every day), and to eat healthily (ditto - am scarily healthy with my diet).

I'm taking four AC a day (two morning, two evening).

A bit of internet digging is suggesting that AC could actually be causing/contributing to the polycystic nature of my ovaries.

We'd like to start TTC #2 soon, but I'm concerned that my ovaries are just going to get worse, and that I'll eventually stop ovulating all together.

I'm scared about stopping the AC though in case it's the only thing holding me together and without it I'll stop ovulating!!

Any advice? Should I wean off? Continue taking them? Go cold turkey?

Please don't tell me off for self-medicating...

I'm taking ac and have not really noticed much except more ewcm? This is my third month. Maybe if you aren't happy with things, wean yourself off but cutting down gradually over a fortnight?

How often are you taking them? They recommend that you only take them for the first half of your cycle (pre ovulation) as there is some evidence that AC can cause problems with a fertilised egg.

Taking them every day but it's not the implantation I'm worried about, more that they might be increasing my polycystic-ness... Think I'll wean off and then if things go haywire ovulation wise go back on.

I haven't heard of AC having any effect on the polycystic nature of ovaries. I have been diagnosed with PCOS in the past and have taken AC for some of the months that I have been ttc and haven't noticed it bringing on any PCOS symtoms. I have had many scans by this point and been told that my ovaries are polycycstic, not quite polycystic but multicycstic, that my right ovary is polycystic but my left is not, that my left ovary is polycystic but my right is not and that neither are polycystic - and that's all in the last few months! I seem to be laying an egg every month so I am not that bothered what the scans say at this point. It clearly changes from month to month.
