Someone told me that if you are TTC you should take baby aspirin.

Any idea who, or why this might be a good idea?

Some women have 'sticky' blood, where your blood clots more easily than normal, and this can lead to miscarriage. So for these women, aspirin is a good thing.

Some women are also prescribed aspirin later in pregnancy - I was prescribed aspirin when expecting DS because the blood wasn't flowing properly through my uterine arteries.

But for women with normal blood clotting, taking aspirin in early pregnancy can increase the risk of miscarriage.

You shouldn't take it unless you've been advised to by your doctor.

It's best not to

I was prescribed it due to "sticky blood" otherwise known as antiphospholipid syndrome. Low dose aspirin, along with heparin injections, is supposed to prevent blood clots to the placenta which might cause miscarriage.
I was not aware that it would do any good whatsoever before actually being pregnant though. I took the aspirin from when I got the bfp.

To be honest, the dose is very low. I don't think it would increase your risk of miscarriage like taking a painkiller dosage might.

Taking aspirin hasn't been shown to improve your chances of getting pregnant in the first place so I wouldn't bother with it if I were you unless a doctor recommends it. As a general rule pregnant women are told to avoid aspirin altogether.

I've read that in trials on women undergoing IVF, low dose aspirin was shown to increase the rates of successful implantation and it was thought this could be due to increased bloodflow to the uterus and a better lining being produced. AFAIK it hasn't been tested on women TTC without IVF, but I don't think it's actually dangerous to take as it's such a low dose.

I took it from my bfp (was advised 150mg a day) and im now holding my 10 week old daughter, after three miscarriages. Tests for sticky blood were negative. 75mg did not preven my third loss.
