Immunes

After a mc in jan following donor egg ivf in December, I am now planning my next round if ivf with one of our frozen embryos.

I am so confused about immunes - testing and treatment - which is all so expensive. I've been told its not scientifically proven and yet have read so much good stuff about it on mn. My clinic will likely recommend preventative meds without testing, aspirin (maybe celaxine instead) and presnisolone. Humira has been mentioned too. But they will support me if I want to do full testing and, if needed, ivig it intralipids.

What shall I look into? What questions do I need to ask? What tests do I need? How much does the testing and treatment actually cost?

Anyt thoughts and info much appreciated.

TIA

I didn't want your message to remain unanswered. I know nothing about your question but I think the people who do know are most likely to be on the infertility section, or on an assisted conception thread, or possibly if you ask on the recurrent miscarriage thread on the miscarriage board as there are women on there who are having the treatments that you mentioned.

Have a look at the Prednisolone thread on here. There are around 30 women on there who have experience of testing for immune issues or preventative meds. Most have experienced recurrent miscarriage. The tests you will get will depend upon who you see as each dr seems to have his preferred way of doing things but will generally be for NK cells. Some also test for other things like DQ-alpha which as I understand it looks for a kind of genetic similarity between the two parents which can lead to the body rejecting embryos as a mutation of the mother's cells rather than an embryo. Fertility friends has a board dedicated to immune issues but I notice that the test results most people get on there look different to the ones I get from my consultant. As I said, each dr seems to have his own way of doing things.

Hello,

I'm currently doing ivf, eggs back in tomorrow I think.

I'm under the Argc, and I've had ivig, I'm still taking Dexamethasone and clexane and aspirin.

I had full Chicago tests. I think they cost me £850 which were done during my monitoring phase, then once I'd started the ivf drugs I was tested again and cd56 was raised, hence the need for ivig etc.

Thanks so much for your responses.

karbea if it's not too cheeky to ask, how much other than the £850 has the treatment cost. Be vague if you prefer, or don't answer at all, I just have no idea! Best of luck for your transfer and really hope you get that BFP Smile
