Can anyone enlighten me as to when an HSG can be performed. I have just had one booked but this may be cd1 and at a guess that's an issue? Thanks.

Hiya. Yes, it should be early in your cycle - they try to do it before you ovulate because it can dislodge an early pregnancy :( and obviously you don't want to miss a cycle ttc if you can avoid it.
For me, they gave me a number to call when af arrived and arranged it for after I'd stopped bleeding. I'd call and say you're expecting af then and can you have an appointment for maybe a week later.

I had one of these not long ago. I had Googled beforehand and got myself into a MASSIVE state reading all the horror stories from stupid hysterical women.

It was a piece of piss. I took two nurofen an hour beforehand and two in the evening, and I barely felt a thing. I've seriously had sessions at the gym that were more painful. I had surgical adhesions so the news wasn't good, but the process itself was fine.

Just wanted to say this to put your mind at rest in case you're nervouse, because I was a gibbering wreck for no reason whatsoever.

By the way, the HSG 'puncture', where the needle pierces the womb lining, can bring on your period early. This was a bit alarming for me as I'd never had an irregular period, but again not a problem or worry.

Good luck!

Thanks both for your help and reassurance.

I should have arranged a different day when I got the first referral call. Never mind.

Wishing you both lots of luck in your TTC adventure. I think mine is done with now unless the HSG makes a difference but am ok about that.

Really Beanie? The end of the road? :(
I'd agree, take painkillers before you have it. The word I'd use to describe it is smarts . It really smarted for me. They also give you a pad. I wore it for the initial walk away then switched to my own in the loo after - I couldn't use my own straight away because my bag was with DH. It was preferable to switch when I had the opportunity!

Thanks Faith. Will neck those nurofen plus. It's been well over a of TTC year now and the strain has got a bit much for me and DP. But we're v lucky - we have our gorgeous DS, so we'll make the most of him and if we get a surprise pg one day then we'll be even more lucky. Grin

I'll deffo pop in here for a lurk from time to time - so want to see all you lovely ladies with your new babies after this dreadful TTC malarkey. Good luck.
