Hello!

Nobody is more surprised than me to find myself here so soon after having DD (11 months). In fact I'm going to have to have my implant out next week, I wasn't planning on another baby for at least a couple of years.

But things have worked out such that a baby next year would work very well & we are both very broody.

Anybody fancy joining me?

Xx

Already on it! 20 weeks gone with #2 and DS is 9 months old Wink We are bad with contraception insane!

Yawner247 · 10/03/2012 22:42

We are TTC whilst still breastfeeding dd who is ten months and my periods haven't started yet so I'm not very hopeful Sad

toobreathless · 10/03/2012 22:48

Cerys74....wow! All I can say. My brother & I are 20months apart (not as close as yours will be) & it's great, I can't remember him not being there. Mum says no sibling jealously, I adored him from the first moment I saw him.

Yawner247: I stopped BF about 3/52 ago in preparation for my return to work. I'm glad I did now as I'm enjoying a bit of time not pregnant or BF at present.

Oooh toobreathless what did you do?! Did you go for formula and bottle or doidy cup and milk?! How long did she take to stop? I have been wondering what to do as I wanted to feed her to one but I keep having wobbles!

TiddlerIsTardy · 10/03/2012 22:54

Yawner, I fell pg with dd2 when dd1 was 10 months, I had no periods, & bf until she was 17 months.

cerys74 · 10/03/2012 22:54

Yawner - I know people who've conceived having never got their periods back, so that might reassure you!

toobreathless - a friend of mine is expecting #2 (due exactly 2 years after #1)! I think it's a popular age gap (2 under 2 that is). My situation is going to be slightly more extreme full-on, but still fun I hope :)

Yawner247 · 10/03/2012 22:57

Thanks tiddler and cerys dd is sleeping through the night on the whole or going at least six hours between feeds and down to having three to four feeds a day...just don't know what to do!

toobreathless · 10/03/2012 23:25

Yawner: ideally I would have fed until she was one, however, that would coincide with her starting at nursery which I felt was a lot of upheaval at once. So, I aimed to stop at 10m or 14m. In the end she spent her first night away with grandparents & went on a nursing strike. I offered the breast for a further three days (if she refused then gave a bottle) & that was it. Painless for her & I just expressed for comfort reasons twice.

We had the formula decision made for us as H has severe CMP allergy & is dairy free. H drinks from a doidy for water & has her two daytime FF from a trainer cup/bottle crossover. She seems to like the avent one best but irritatingly it only holds 4 oz. She is having a bottle just at bedtime at present. I'm hoping to have her onto just the doidy by age 1. She is getting better & better with it.

Lovely to hear from people who don't think I'm totally mad!

Thanks for sharing the information...I've kept going as she's never really taken a bottle and I go back to work when she's 13 months and she starts nursery just after her first birthday so I'm sure we can keep going...and she will only be going two afternoons a week, she drinks water from a beaker but I think we will try a doidy cup soon and maybe look at a bottle without a teat for her for the evenings as I'm a feed to sleep mummy! Blush
I don't mention the fact that we are ttc to all friends and family...some will think We are barmy and will have their unhelpful advice to offer Grin

toobreathless · 10/03/2012 23:37

Nursery 2 afternoons a week...I am Envy H is going fulltime until I can go off on a second mat leave (28/52) hoping this may only be three or four months.

toobreathless my dh works as an engineer on shifts all week and I am a nurse so I also work shifts and will be working every other weekend so don't be Envy as I will be doing some nights too Wink that's why we have managed only two nursery afternoons! I really don't want to go back to workSad

sunshineoutdoors · 11/03/2012 18:47

Hi! Cani join you all?

Yawner I think you are me, except my dd is 7 months old. I can't wait to be pregnant again. Dd is breastfed but since I started weaning she now only feeds about 4 times a day. I try and keep 4 hours between her feeds and she goes about 10 hours at night between evening and morning feed. No period yet though Sad

It's hard because I know I'd have more chance if I stopped bf but it doesn't feel like dd's ready to stop yet and tbh I find it so much more convenient than faffing about with bottles.

Anyone know how to boost chances of ovulating?

sunshineoutdoors · 11/03/2012 18:47

Can I not cani!

sunshineoutdoors · 11/03/2012 18:49

What is this bottle without a teat? Sounds promising... Maybe then I could mixed feed and not have to faff about with a steriliser? (dd not too keen on bottles either though)

Yawner247 · 11/03/2012 18:59

sunshine I know what you mean re breastfeeding and being less faff with being off for the year I decided to continue to bf...I have been keeping track of feeding times too as I've read nipple stimulation/time at the breast affects the return of your period! I have been keeping a record of my cervical mucus as read that this is a good indicator of fertile times etc but not sure if I'm pissing in the wind with that one like my opk however I've only done one test when cervical mucus was looking like possible fertile period!!!
A couple of months ago I was convinced I was pregnant to poas later and no joy....I really want to be pregnnt when I return to work then I have an exit strategy!!! Envy of these bfing early period returners!!!
Re bottle:- I was thinking about the bottles with the straw in, like a sports bottle type thing I think nuby do one and thought I would have a look when I went shopping, will let you know if I find one!

Yawner247 · 11/03/2012 19:05

That should've been two poas btw! And sorry about the other typos!!! Blush if you find an ovulation booster keep me posted!! Most people say its natural spacing your bodies not ready yet but I am ready!!

sunshineoutdoors · 11/03/2012 19:06

I have already poas twice as was convinced I had pregnancy symptoms both times! Just trying to swi as much as possible - ideally every other day but realistically only about twice a week due to tiredness, need to prioritise more! Sorry if that's tmi but this is a conception thread!

What do you know about bf and ovulating? Am I right in trying to stretch times between feeds? It means she's staying longer at the breast each time? And sometimes if she has a short feed I try again shortly after as long as it's a few short feeds in the space of about an hour I class it as one feed.

skirmish · 11/03/2012 19:10

I got pg with dc2 whilst exclusively bf'ing dc1 (who was only 3mths). Never had a period. It is easily done Grin

Yawner247 · 11/03/2012 19:43

Ahhh sunshine I'm glad I'm not the only one!! Grin yes they say a good four to six hour gap between feeds is what you should be aiming for with as little night feeds as poss again I believe six hour blocks or more is good! And i have done the same re small/short feeds however now she doesn't tend to do this very often now! I have posted before re bf and ovulating and it seems it's very much a personal thing that varies woman to woman!! Dd has gone today from 9am until 6pm with her feeds and then she will be going to bed around 8ish and will be having a feed! Still no period!!!! Hehe I find it very frustrating!

BagofHolly · 11/03/2012 23:09

We did this. 20 month gap between ds1 and our twins. I love every atom of all of them but it's my greatest regret that we didn't leave bigger gaps. I might not have felt like that with a singleton but no one knows they're having twins till they're having twins. Just saying...

Yawner247 · 11/03/2012 23:14

Haha bagofholly we joke about that but you never know what's in store!!! Grin

BagofHolly · 11/03/2012 23:20

Yep! Be careful what you wish for! Good luck!

Yawner247 · 11/03/2012 23:27

I should indeed be careful...I was a twin...I survived and unfortunately the other twin didn't survive past 12 weeks During pregnancy and my husbands cousin had twins...they had two children and thought one more and ended up with twins!!! Does this make me more susceptible to twins?! Nahhhhhhh didn't think so either!! Grin

BagofHolly · 11/03/2012 23:35

Twins are much more like to have twins themselves. And once you've had one set you're much more likely to have a second set! I'm scaring you now, aren't I?!

Yawner247 · 12/03/2012 00:08

haha
