Early pregnancy tests

Does anyone have experience or opinions about testing early, i.e. before AF is due? Which test is best?

I'm considering buying one tomorrow (AF due wednesday) and testing on Monday morning. Thought I'd buy a two pack in case I need to test again. Is it a waste of money?!

Getting lots of signs (sore boobs, left hand side cramp, overheating, queasy and headaches) so fingers crossed! Hopefully not phantom symptoms. [Hmm]

We've been trying for about 18 months!

i read on here first response is good it syas it can be used 5 days before af due

Superdrug early (pink packet, not digital) are pretty good & test to 25mIU, plus are pretty easy to read & use.

Wilkinson's tests (either the cheapy dip sticks or the plastic contained ones) are cheap & test to 20mIU, so even more sensitive.

Apparently, first response early are sensitive to 12.5mIU but I've never used those, so can't say for sure.

Whilst I understand the urge to confirm the symptoms (having POAS today, 4ish days before AF) if you can hold off, you are better off for it. If you get a BFN you'll think it was too early anyway, or if you get a BFP, you'll worry it won't 'stick' etc. If you can be patient, the BFP will still be there!!!

Either way, good luck!! Grin

Superdrug actually claim to be 10miu so as good as the best cheapies and they have darker dye.

First response gave me a clear positive at 11dpo, so 3 days before period was due. I expect I'd have got a faint line the previous day but I wouldn't test before 11dpo.

I would say First Response Early Result are the best for early testing. They are quite pricey though.

Good luck, hope it's a bfp for you this month. If not, then why not order lots of ultra early internet cheapie tests for next month? Guilt free pissing on sticks.

Tried this morning as OH is working away from today (yet another issue in the ttc saga!)

Got a BFN but still slightly hopeful/ delusional! AF due on Wednesday. Can't believe I've had loads of symptoms ( cramps etc) then nothing to show for it. Never had that before in 18 months of ttc.

Oh well, better drag myself to work and paint on a false smile. I wish this was easier.

Thanks for the advice and support. X

Could still be a little early. It's not over until AF has arrived...

If at first you don't succeed....

Well after all the symptoms AF is here in force. Feel silly for wasting money but decided enough is enough. Went to see a lovely dr (female) and she's referred us both for tests. At least then we'll know if there are any other issues. She was so positive and it gave me a wee boost! I've decided to dust myself off, have a bit of a health kick (gym) etc and take some pressure off us.

Not sure what the NHS will offer us but rather than keeping it all to ourselves (apart from me being on here!) we'll maybe get some support!

Annoying though OH announces he might be working away during next month's best time. I hate his bloody job!!!

X

That's bad luck blondel but good news about your GP. Fingers crossed the tests go well & have a little bundle of joy soon...
