Aaaaargh - dtd denied!

Hello,

We've only been trying a couple of months for number 2 but this month we've really been giving it our all (hammers and tongs). However, my cycle varies so we were using opk's this month (probably more for reassurance for me).

Got a positive yesterday at 6pm but our lovely friends arrived at 6:30pm to stay for the weekend. We dtd on Thursday so don't know if that'll be too early?

Just kind of wanted to vent my frustration more than anything.

Thanks!

Why can't you dtd with friends staying?

If your bed is noisy move to the floor, or (tmi alert) get him to get himself to the right point and then put it where it needs to go for the last few seconds.

Fertility friend says best time to dtd is the day before a positive. This certainly worked for us with dd2!

Sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days. Apparently the sperm for girls swim slower but live longer and boys swim faster but die quicker. So if you have sex a few days before ovulation you have more chance of having a girl.

Although they can, sperm are very unlikely to live inside you for five days. 2 days is about the max you should bank on. Thursday for Friday is good timing.

Thank you all for replying.
That's reassuring to hear about the Thursday timing thing. Fingers crossed it works but I won't feel too disappointed if I don't get pregnant this month as at least I'll know our timing was off (again!).

Fudgywudgy - wouldn't have been able to do it with them in the house as there was too much late night drinking going on (followed by early starts with the kids!).
