So, no idea what's going on if anything, but maybe some of you lovely ladies can assist!

Had AF 17 days ago. Only unusual thing about it was that my boobs were still sore after it started. Now, I have pain in my right side, where I would normally get ovulation pain, but it has lasted 2 days, been so painful I've had to medicate and radiates into the small of my back. Also, feeling really nauseous and been very tired this last week. What does anyone think?

Oh I forgot, I've also had a couple of spells of feeling very light-headed - even when sitting down!

Chunkychicken · 08/03/2012 12:57

I've had really similar, including the dizzy spells.

Had twinges on my lower right side that I put down to ovulation but now have a sharp pain high on the right side, exactly where you get a 'stitch' (which is how it started) and now feels really quite sore. Sometimes more painful than others but not bad enough to take painkillers (but then I had appendicitus without taking many painkillers...)

I've been a bit concerned because I can't think how I've pulled a muscle etc but it seems too high up to be ovary/ectopic related. I'm also getting dull aches/gentle cramps across my lower tummy & back.

I can't be of any help to you, sorry, but I will be watching your thread with interest! Hope your mind is put at rest :)

sugartongue · 08/03/2012 13:40

It's probably nothing, but you know how it is...love to second guess every twinge!

Do you have a test to hand? Ectopics can show up late, as I think hCG levels rise more slowly, but 17 days after your period could well get something (I'm assuming you think you conceived in the last cycle, not the current one).

sugartongue · 08/03/2012 14:45

Could you have a period when you had an ectopic? Maybe I'll Poas when I get home!

OP posts:
Northey · 08/03/2012 15:28

Yes. I did. I

assume that because it doesn't implant in the womb, there's less of an immediate desire for the womb to hold onto all of it's lining, or something.

Do POAS when you get home. It's probably all nothing, but it's a serious condition if you have it, so it's as well to be on the lookout.

sugartongue · 08/03/2012 16:10

I was thinking that might be the case. HoPefully I just have a virus or something...hope you have recovered from it yourself :)

OP posts:
sugartongue · 08/03/2012 19:07

Ok, Poas - DH says "there's nothing there!" I think I can see a line (albeit a faint one). Will have to test again in the morning if I still feel like this!

OP posts:
Northey · 08/03/2012 19:21

Yes, do. And make sure you have googled all the symptoms and know what to look out for.

sugartongue · 08/03/2012 20:57

Did you get a bfp? How did you realise you had an ectopic?

OP posts:
RancerDoo · 08/03/2012 21:01

Yes, test tomorrow to make sure. I had a bleed with my first ep, which looked like a period, then tested because i felt pregnant. Best to rule it out.
Some months i do get pretty heavy duty ov cramps, and your aches sound quite similar so hopefully its just ovulation.

sugartongue · 08/03/2012 22:14

Well DH has been out and bought me some nice expensive tests, so hopefully if there's anything to be found I'll know in the morning

OP posts:
Northey · 08/03/2012 23:17

I bled like a normal period, then a week later had very sensitive nipples and weird dreams and standard pregnancy type symptoms, so I tested (despite having bled) and got a bfp.

I had an early scan because of bonkers PCOS long cycles and they wanted to know how far along I was. Nothing there. So I went on holiday for a week Hmm, came home, had awful awful pain one night which I ignored because I had a scan already booked for the next day. At the scan my hCG levels had dropped and they then found it in my tube.

Do keep testing either till you get a bfp or until you feel normal again.

sugartongue · 09/03/2012 07:35

Right, so I took the test and no hint of a bfp. Not sure what the crack is! Will have to see how I feel today! DH jumped me last night when I got into bed - if it was hardcore ovulation pain we ought to be DTD! Probably release multiple eggs and end of pregnant with quads...Grin

It could just be weirdly intense cycle-related pain. Is it still the same?

sugartongue · 09/03/2012 09:50

The pain is substantially better so probably just a weirdly intense cycle as you say - the only thing I think in contradiction to that is that normally at this point of the cycle I'd have heavy cm (tmi sorry), but I haven't had at all! The body's a weird thing...

When I had an ectopic pregnancy, I initially felt a little sick, and had some bleeding like a period. It was accompanied by cramping, all of which I normally get with my pcos anyway so didn't think anything of it. I started to feel sicker, and got a pain in my left shoulder along with the cramping, which got so intense that I passed out, and had trouble breathing. My mum called an ambulance and they thought it was a ruptured appendix to start with. In hospital I found out I was pregnant and had the surgery within a couple of hours. The next evening while I was still groggy in hospital my hubby proposed. Just keep an eye on symptoms.

vixsatis · 09/03/2012 14:30

I bled
Then tested because I felt weird and got a -ve
Then bled again
Ended up rushed into hospital at 9 weeks, having lost litres and litres of blood internally. Nearly died

If you still have symptoms, go to the doctor: it doesn't matter if you are wrong

sugartongue · 09/03/2012 17:27

I'm rubbish at getting myself to the doctor - my work is often a bit unavoidable in nature. But I'd rather avoid the scenario of losing a tube by leaving

OP posts:
sugartongue · 09/03/2012 17:28

It too late - so if symptoms persist I will seek out an appointment

OP posts:
sugartongue · 20/03/2012 12:23

Thought all this was over - ie wrote it off as bad ovulation pain, but today have a pain in my right arm. Did I sleep funny, or could this be the shoulder blade pain they talk about from internal bleeding?

OP posts:
lizziebennet · 20/03/2012 14:53

If I were you I would give NHS 24 a call and have a chat with them.

It is probably nothing, but it really is better to have it checked out. NHS 24 can sort out an emergency appointment for you too.

Please don't just leave it - as others have said, it's better to be safe etc.

Northey · 20/03/2012 16:04

Do you have a spare stick to hand? Have you retested? But yes, phone NHS Direct. No-one will think you are stupid. They would rather have a quick look at you when you can talk coherently and then send you on your way than have you rushed in by ambulance, semi-conscious and unable to tell them what you think is wrong.

iloveberries · 21/03/2012 15:07

hi OP, It's probably all fine but if you're not sure get yourself to a docs or if you can spare the £ get a private scan. You know your body so TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS.

I did this last week and was diagnosed with ectopic. I didn't have any symptoms except lack of pregnancy symptoms (if that makes sense) whilst producing positive pregnancy tests... I just felt something was wrong.

Hope you don't mind me slightly hijacking the thread but a very nice lady started an ectopic support thread in the m/c and pregnancy loss section so if anyone on here who's had an ectopic fancies joining then please do.

Good Luck OP - I will be thinking of you
